Job Description
The Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach reports to the Head Soccer Coach and is a key member of the coaching team, who provides leadership and vision within the Athletics Department, as well as among the student athletes. The position is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the men’s and women’s soccer program(s) with a commitment to the University, Red River Conference, and the NAIA. Assists with various aspects of the program, such as recruiting, scheduling opponents, fundraising, strength & conditioning, developing annual service/engagement projects for student-athletes, planning and preparation for matches and practices, mentoring and evaluating student-athletes, and academic monitoring. The position is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by Texas A&M University-San Antonio (A&M-San Antonio), the Red River Athletics Conference (RRAC), and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). In addition, this person must be committed to the education Mission of the University. Responsibilities:
+ Assist the head coach and other staff members with routine administrative responsibilities of the assigned sport program and management of both soccer teams.
+ Coaches at the direction of the head coach and provide instruction, demonstration and teaching of the sport's dynamics to student-athletes to ensure maximum potential of individuals and the team as a whole.
+ Recruits and scouts prospective student-athletes from high school, junior and community colleges.
+ Make recommendations to the head coach regarding potential of student-athletes.
+ Stay current, understand, and adhere to all NAIA and RRAC guidelines and maintain up to-date rosters, squad lists, and other information.
+ Assist in coordinating and developing organized schedules.
+ Will report any violations of these established rules, which may arise, to the proper officials.
+ Assist the head coach in coordinating team travel, arranging competitive schedule, organizing and scheduling practice sessions, recruiting, and updating and maintaining files.
+ Assist in implementing and maintaining a comprehensive public relations program.
+ Assist in managing the operations of sport camps and/or clinics.
+ Assist in managing all department fund-raising and booster events in accordance with NAIA, RRAC, institutional rules, and system policies and procedures.
+ Establishes and ensures communication and enforcement of rules and regulations concerning student-athlete conduct, appearance, road games, punctuality and other areas.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
+ High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree required.
+ Previous experience playing or coaching intercollegiate soccer within the NAIA.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Basic knowledge of computers including databases.
+ Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
+ Must possess strong public relations and interpersonal skills to interact effectively and professionally with University community, outside community, and the press.
+ Must possess a commitment to student learning and success, as well as a dedication to growth, development, innovation, and improvement.
+ Must possess sensitivity to various background of students (academic, socio economic, cultural/ethnic, physical/learning disabilities).
+ Must possess commitment and capabilities to abide by NAIA and Conference rules.
+ Must have knowledge of the Red River Athletic Conference.
Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:
+ Must possess a valid Driver's license.

+ Works under general supervision and generally will not supervise.
