The position reports to the Vice President of Finance and Administration and may serve as a cabinet level position. The Assistant Vice President (AVP) is responsible for directing the financial division including Budget, Procurement, Controller’s office, Revenue Management and Bursar’s office. Additionally, the AVP will serve as the internal control officer.
The AVP is key member of the college’s leadership team, actively participating in strategic planning, committee work, and institutional decision- making.
**Key Duties and Responsibilities:**
• Direct comprehensive budget and financial operations, overseeing the management of all tax levy and non-tax levy accounts, and adapt to evolving financial structures.
• Collaborate closely with the executive leadership to align financial planning with institutional priorities, ensuring fiscal sustainability and transparency.
• Provide recommendations to leadership regarding all significant strategic and financial decisions, oversee the implementation of decisions, and analyze data and systems to inform decision-making.
• Responsible for identifying opportunities to leverage and redesign processes, ERP transformation/conversion, tools, and technology to improve financial operations.
• Use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models and analyses with little guidance to conclude and make recommendations that deliver results and drive improvements.
• Develop communication plans for administrative, operational, or technical changes and determine the timeline for disseminating communication and support.
• Establish and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with financial legislation, policies, and procedures.
• Guide direct reports in developing operational plans and timelines for all projects and initiatives; foster engagement, team building, and consensus across the organization through regular meetings, collaborations, mentorship initiatives, and other professional-sound methods.
• Collaborate with CUNY Central Budget Office to track, audit and manage the budget on a quarterly basis.

**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Master’s Degree, CPA license, and prior experience in a college or university setting is preferred.
+ Eight (8) years of progressively responsible full-time paid experience in an administrative or managerial capacity in accounting/financials or a closely related area.
+ Experience implementing and managing financial systems, including but not limited to: cash management, accounts receivable and payable, budgeting, procurement, campus services and asset management.
+ Experience with ERP software, such as Banner, PeopleSoft, or Workday, is strongly preferred.
+ Knowledge of financial data and systems integration with a solid working knowledge of bank integrations, payment processing, and compliance with financial regulations (e.g., 1099 processing and Student Refund processing).
+ Aligning financial operations with the Institution’s strategic vision.

**COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS**
**REVISED:** Salary range is $160,000 - $175,000;Salary commensurate with education and experience.
