Description of Work Unit

The Student Disability Center ( SDC ) Is part of the Office for Inclusive Excellence, specifically one of seven Cultural Resource Centers (CRCs) that support students at Colorado State University ( CSU ). The SDC is responsible for the assessment, recommendation, and provision of academic accommodations for students with disabilities, including those with chronic, physical, or mental health conditions. In addition, SDC acts as an advocate on behalf of disabled students to promote and support inclusive activities and policies in response to federal mandates of non-discrimination. SDC acts as a partner with students, faculty, and staff to ensure students with disabilities are afforded an equal opportunity to benefit from, and participate in, all activities and programs sponsored by the university with an emphasis on retention and graduation.

Position Summary
This position serves as a significant support for the Student Disabilities Center’s Coordinator of Alternative Testing Accommodations. The Assistant to the Alternative Testing Coordinator is responsible for the provision of academic testing accommodations for students with disabilities, including those with chronic, physical, or mental health conditions. This position acts as an advocate on behalf of students with disabilities to support inclusive testing policies in response to federal mandates of non-discrimination.
Must be available to work evenings and weekends as necessary to best meet the needs of SDC’s student population.
Position Minimum Qualifications
+ Experience working with students with disabilities , including those with chronic, physical, or mental health conditions.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office; including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s Degree in education, social work, psychology, counseling, student personnel/higher education.
+ Experience working with, and a familiarity of the unique needs of individuals with specific disabilities.
+ Working knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act and amendments.
+ Excellent written communication skills.
+ Demonstrated experience relating to and collaborating effectively with a variety of constituents including students, faculty, staff, and community.

+ Welcome and greet all students, faculty and staff coming into the Alternative Testing Center for exams.
+ Answer questions related to Alternative Testing procedures.
+ Individual interaction with SDC student population. SDC serves over 3,000 students.
+ Mastery of data management system.
+ Support scheduling students and exam requests and exam proctoring which can range from one to a couple hundred depending on the time of the semester.
+ Monitoring all exams via video surveillance and/or in person (via proctors).
+ Responding to faculty and student emails that come to the Alternative Testing Center email regarding exams.
+ Upholding academic integrity.
+ Attend professional development to continue supporting students with disabilities.

+ Sorting and preparing exams for the upcoming day,
+ Support Coordinator of Alternative Testing Accommodations with various tasks related to Alternative Testing, including but not limited to; proctoring and proctoring logistics, and gathering and delivering exams.
+ Ensure equipment in Alternative Testing Center is working and if it is not reporting to Coordinator of Alternative Testing Accommodations.
+ Consult with faculty and other staff in a proactive manner to facilitate relationship building and implementation of accommodation(s) or other support needed by students.
+ Develop and maintain successful relationship with students, faculty, staff, and community members related to the support of individuals with disabilities.
