About the Role
As an Assistant Superintendent, you'll partner with the Superintendent to oversee daily operations at our grain elevator. You'll manage grain handling processes, including loading, unloading, sampling, grading, transferring, blending, and storage. You'll maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, DNR, and DOT regulations while fostering a safe and sanitary workplace. You'll also develop and lead your team, coordinate maintenance schedules, and complete special projects as needed.
What You’ll DoSupport daily grain elevator operations, including loading, unloading, sampling, grading, transferring, blending, and storing grainPlan and prioritize shift tasks, using team members’ skills and experience effectivelyPromote a safe and sanitary workplace by following company policies and applicable regulations (including OSHA, EPA, DNR, and DOT)Identify and address safety, environmental, and GMP risks to protect employees, product quality, and the environmentTrain, coach, and support hourly employees to build job skills and confidenceCommunicate regularly with employees, respond to concerns, and help foster a positive team environmentRecognize strong performance and safe work practices, and address performance issues when neededCollaborate with facility leadership to improve safety, quality, equipment reliability, and overall operationsHelp lead preventive maintenance schedules, inspections, and repairs to reduce downtimeMaintain documentation and look for opportunities to improve efficiency and manage costsStay informed about industry regulations and operational best practices
Position Qualifications:A high school diploma or equivalentExperience or training in operations, maintenance, agriculture, or a related fieldExperience supporting or leading teams, including training or mentoring othersStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsThe ability to communicate clearly with team members and leadership, both verbally and in writingExperience following safety procedures and participating in safety programs (such as Job Hazard Analysis)Basic computer skills, including email and common office software
Preferred Qualifications:A bachelor’s degree in agriculture or a related fieldExperience in grain handling, manufacturing, or industrial operationsMechanical or electrical experience maintaining equipment, facilities, or utilitiesExperience helping plan or analyze preventive maintenance activities
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This role involves working in an industrial facility.
