Manage product mix, shelf placement, pricing and promotional merchandising plans for assigned categories. Analyze market data to determine correct mix of products to carry in our stores. Stay on top of product trends via external and internal sources and act on trends to quickly add new, innovative products & programs into our stores. Responsible for maintaining shelf sets for each category that full, organized and easy to shop. Review pricing on a regular basis to ensure all products are pricing correctly according to established parameters. Build Bi-weekly merchandising plans (ads & displays) that maximize units, sales, margins and vendor funds. Communicate clearly to stores via bi-weekly email updates, bi-weekly sales bulletin, online portal page, quarterly meetings and any other communication as necessary. Visit Haggen stores on a consistent basis and connect with Store Management and department head for assigned categories to ensure good execution of merchandising plans and ensure stores are being well supported. Maintain strong relationship with vendors to maximize sales & vendor funds through item mix, new items and promotions. Work closely with internal Haggen people – Haggen Data Integrity, Haggen Marketing team, Haggen Schematic Analyst and other Haggen Sales Managers.
Qualifications: The following are preferred not required:
Education Level:
Possess a degree in Business, Marketing, related field, or equivalent work experience. Graduate of the Retail Management Certificate Program is a plus
Experience Level:
Previous store operations experience or similar experience where a strong understanding of operations and merchandising approaches has been gained.
Skills and Experiences:
Financial, mathematical, statistical, marketing, merchandising and consumer research background to read, interpret, and understand how internal and external factors influence financial results. Ability to read and interpret profit and loss statement and understand how the categories managed are affected. Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be experienced in taking initiative and making decisive yet appropriate decisions. Strong planning and organizing skills. Written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective business relationships within and outside the company. Familiarity with Category Business Planning. Familiar with procurement, logistics, and inventory management. Strong with computer applications (Excel, Word & Power Point) and able to learn internal systems quickly (pricing system & vendor portals)
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:
Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment or store environment. Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal. Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday. Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties. Store visits involve regular standing, walking, climbing stairs and movement in and around machinery and hazardous equipment, as well as backstage receiving and production areas. Standing/walking, sitting, keyboarding, bending, twisting, reaching, pushing/pulling, lifting.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Travel to Haggen stores on a regular basis and travel to industry trade shows 1-3 times yearly
The pay range is $78,000 to $90,000 per year. Starting rates will vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Dependent on length of service, hours worked and any applicable collective bargaining agreement, benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay (accrued based on hours worked), PTO/Vacation pay (accrued based on hours worked), paid holidays (between 7-9 days annually), bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401k eligibility).
