Yes County Albany Street Address 99 Washington Avenue City Albany State NY Zip Code 12231 Duties Description Reporting to the Director of Public Information, the Assistant Public Information Officer will serve as a team member of a fast paced, creative and energetic communications office. This position will be involved in all aspects of the public information office including managing all aspects of press events, writing press releases, updating the agency website, social media postings, and media relations for a wide range of Department activities and programs.Specific duties include, but are not limited to:• Write and edit press releases, scripts, reports, brochures, social media posts and other informational materials.• Proofread, rewrite and edit documents submitted by others within the agency for style, content and conformity to agency standards and policy. • Work closely with agency divisions to generate news and social media content to share across appropriate multi-media channels.• Work closely with the Digital Information Officer and agency divisions to make timely updates to agency website. • Assist with coordination of press or public events. • Review and assist in drafting appropriate responses to inquiries received through various channels, including media inquiries and social media inquiries. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree plus four years of relevant professional public affairs or communications experience. One year must have been at a supervisory level.*Substitutions: Four years of relevant professional experience or associate’s degree and two years of relevant professional experience may substitute for bachelor’s degree; J.D. or master’s degree may substitute for one year of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. may substitute for two years of relevant professional experience.If a degree and/or credit hours are listed, please forward your transcripts with your resume and cover letter.It is essential that candidates clearly and concisely indicate exactly how they meet the above minimum qualifications in their resume.
