Assistant Professor (Gender, Embodiment, Health, and Science)- Women & Gender Studies **FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT** The Women and Gender Studies Department invites applications for an assistant professor position in Gender, Embodiment, Health, and Science to begin in Fall 2026. We seek a scholar whose work critically engages with the intersections of gender, sex, race, health, medicine and/or science. We welcome applicants from a range of interdisciplinary and disciplinary backgrounds, including but not limited to feminist science studies, public health, healthcare, Black feminist theory, Indigenous studies, embodiment, trans studies, disability studies, environmental justice, or medical humanities. We are particularly interested in scholars who focus on midwifery, reproductive health and sexuality. We encourage applicants who are committed to undergraduate teaching in an interdisciplinary department. The successful candidate will contribute to the core curriculum of Women and Gender Studies and offer courses in their area of expertise. They will also be encouraged to collaborate with related programs and departments across the College such as Hunter's Pre-Nursing Program, Public Health and Social Work and/or the Human Biology Program. The position involves teaching, research and guidance duties in the area(s) of their expertise and will share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions. Preferred qualifications include experience teaching interdisciplinary courses in feminist science and health; and a research agenda that engages community-based, transnational or intersectional perspectives. **QUALIFICATIONS** Ph.D. in Women’s and Gender Studies or a related field, with demonstrated research focus in Women’s and Gender Studies. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. **COMPENSATION** Compensation is commensurate with experience within the range of $90,838-$109,025. CUNY offers faculty a competitive compensation and benefits package covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs. We also provide mentoring and support for research, scholarship, and publication as part of our commitment to ongoing faculty professional development. CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases.
