This is a tenure-track position. Expectations include teaching required courses in the Fashion & Textiles curriculum, research and/or creative activity in the discipline, and service to the department, school, and university. Candidates must demonstrate continued growth for consideration in tenure and promotion decisions. The Fashion and Textiles program, housed in the Department of Human Ecology, includes concentrations in design and merchandising, and it also offers a one-year visiting student program with the Fashion Institute of Technology. The Department of Human Ecology offers programs in Human Development & Family Studies, Nutrition & Dietetics, Fashion & Textiles, and Food Service & Restaurant Administration. Duties include but are not limited to: + Teaching undergraduate design courses to meet department needs, specifically: + Fashion Illustration + Apparel Construction + Tailoring + Flat Pattern Making + Computer-Aided Fashion Design + Research/creative activity in the discipline + Service to the department, school, and university, including advising students Salary: $60,000 - $64,700 commensurate with experience. Job Requirements: Required Qualifications: + Ph.D. in fashion design or a related field. ABD considered; official confirmation of degree conferral by the issuing institution upon start of employment. Additional: + Demonstrated evidence operating computer-aided design software or digital textile printing tools in teaching and research contexts. Preferred: + Evidence of teaching required courses in: + Fashion Illustration + Apparel Construction + Tailoring + Flat Pattern Making + Computer-Aided Fashion Design + Experience in teaching, mentoring, and/or research. + Experience working with or serving diverse and/or multicultural populations.
