Primary Responsibilities
The Department of Psychology at St. Lawrence University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Developmental Psychology to begin August 2026. We are a collegial department committed to high-impact, innovative teaching, active scholarship, and meaningful student engagement. We seek a colleague who shares our passion for undergraduate education in a liberal arts setting. The successful candidate will regularly teach Developmental Psychology. Additional teaching opportunities may include Introductory Psychology, Research Methods, or courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. The standard teaching load is three courses per semester.
Sponsorship of undergraduate research projects is expected; opportunities for course release may be earned through this mentorship (https://www.stlawu.edu/offices/psychology/student-research). Interested candidates may also have the opportunity to teach in the university’s First Year Program, our residential living/learning program (https://www.stlawu.edu/offices/first-year-program ). Additionally, numerous other opportunities exist to mentor undergraduates, both within and outside the department, including working with students in the CSTEP and McNair Scholars programs (https://www.stlawu.edu/offices/cstep-and-mcnair). The successful candidate will join a department of 10 full-time faculty members and two academic support persons who are passionate about supporting our liberal arts curriculum through varied and inclusive pedagogies and scholarly pursuits. Approximately 65-85 students choose to declare a psychology major each year. We also co-sponsor a Neuroscience Major with our Biology Department. Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should have their Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology, or a related field, by August 15, 2026, but ABD candidates will be considered. A demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and an active scholarly agenda are required.
Preferred Qualifications
Salary $73,000 to $79,000 annually. Actual salary will be determined by education, experience, and other factors protected by law.
