The Department of Psychology is one of the largest at the University, with a large and diverse faculty and student body. Currently, there are approximately 450 undergraduate majors and 200 master's students. The psychology major consists of concentrations in forensic, clinical, general, and community and society. The graduate programs include community psychology, industrial and organizational psychology, and clinical mental health counseling (CMHC).Both our on-ground and online CMHC programs are fully accredited by CACREP.The department also houses the sociology program, which has one of the largest minors at the University.
You will:
+ Have expertise in Counselor Education & Supervision and teach master-s-level counseling courses (e.g., multicultural and diversity issues in counseling, assessment, family therapy, trauma and crisis intervention, practicum, and internship) as well as occasional undergraduate classes.
+ Teach predominantlyin-personat the University-s West Haven campus.
+ Hold a doctorate in Counselor Education & Supervision (ABD applicants may be considered; however, degree completion must occur no later than the end of the first academic year of appointment). Degrees from CACREP-accredited programs are preferred.
+ Hold or be eligible for licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Connecticut (or equivalent state licensure).
You need:
+ To be a dynamic instructor able to teach master-s and undergraduate courses using in-person, hybrid, and online modalities.
+ Experience advising, mentoring, and providing clinical supervision to graduate counseling students.
+ A strong and independent program of research (research specialization is open).
+ A demonstrated commitment to serving culturally, ethnically, and linguistically diverse communities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Special consideration will be given to candidates with expertise inrehabilitation counselingand/orclinical experience working with forensic populations or counseling children.
Other responsibilities include participation in faculty-mentored research, program development, student evaluation, and accreditation activities.
