Posting Number ACAD506 Job Title Assistant Professor, Nocturnists Position Title Assistant Professor, Nocturnists Position Type Faculty Number of vacancies 1 Salary Commensurate upon experience Department Medicine Position Summary The Nocturnists position will consist of the following: • Provide clinical services on a 7 day on/off schedule • Work hours are from 8 pm to 8 am • Nocturnists will spend half of their service time supervising resident activities and half of their time working independently • More specifically, on the week supervising residents, the Nocturnists will be available to residents should questions or problems arise in the care of patients by the residents. • The Nocturnists will actively supervise the residents in their care of patients that are admitted to the step-down areas of the hospital and when patients under the care of the residents decompensate. • On weeks when not supervising residents, the Nocturnists will independently admit up to 6 patients and be responsible for the care of those patients. Supervision of the nurse practitioner will also be provided as the nurse practitioner provides cross cover activities.
