Job Description

This position is for a Fall 2026 hire. 

 

Summary Description: 

 

This is a full-time tenure track position teaching mathematics including statistics and possibly Dual Enrollment Course. This assignment includes teaching courses throughout the mathematics curriculum and actively participating in department and college responsibilities including curriculum development, assessment of outcomes, regular professional development, and collegial processes. The successful candidate will utilize recognized methodologies that support student success and be part of an engaged campus community.

 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

 

The duties listed are representative of this classification and do not encompass all tasks that may be assigned. Related or similar duties may be required as appropriate to the position.

 

• Incorporate equitable teaching practices within all courses taught in the discipline.

• Participate in campus and departmental activity that encourages students to pursue Mathematics and other STEM disciplines.

• Teach courses during the evenings and weekends, if required.

• Assess Student Learning Outcomes to guide continuous improvement in curriculum and instruction.

• Work collegially with faculty and staff of the department, division, and college to advance student success

• Communicate and provide more individualized support to students during regularly scheduled office hours and beyond the classroom setting

• Design and deliver instruction that utilizes and promotes peer support, reflects equity, inclusion, and accessibility while meeting the needs of a diverse student population.

• Maintain and submit accurate records.

• Take an active role in faculty shared governance and support the broader mission of the college through service and leadership.

 

Qualifications

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Master's in mathematics or applied mathematics

 

OR

 

Bachelor's in either of the above

 

AND

 

Master's in statistics, physics or mathematics education

 

AND 

 

a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

• Experience teaching diverse student populations in a post-secondary educational setting

• Demonstrated willingness and ability to teach all math classes offered by the college, including statistics and dual enrollment courses.

• Demonstrated ability and commitment to teaching students with diverse learning styles using computer technology, active learning, intrusive support, alternative and formative assessments, flipped classrooms, project-based learning, and other methods that foster engagement while maintaining positive student relationships.

• Demonstrated knowledge of and willingness to take initiative to combat inequity, especially racial inequities across all aspects of work, including building community in the classroom and department, developing inclusive curriculum, and participating in shared governance.

Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting. Occasional exposure to risks controlled by safety precautions.

 

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to occasionally lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 30 pounds; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

 

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents; and to operate assigned equipment.

 

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.

2. A resume summarizing your educational and professional experience.

 

3. A cover letter explaining how your experience and background demonstrates that you meet the minimum requirements for the position stated in the posting.

 

4. Teaching Philosophy of your beliefs about teaching and learning. The statement or description should include examples of how you put your beliefs into practice by including concrete examples of what you do or anticipate doing in the classroom.

 

5. Unofficial transcripts that show you meet the minimum educational requirement(s) for the position. Only transcripts showing the awarded minimum required degree or higher degree will be accepted. Transcripts must be legible. Transcripts must be from a US accredited institution. Transcripts from outside the US must include an official evaluation for equivalency. Copies of diplomas will not be accepted in lieu of transcripts if the position requires a degree. Official Transcripts will be required upon hire. If possible, please highlight the area indicating the degree name/major and date the degree was awarded or conferred.

 

AND 

 

• The person selected for hire will be required to complete the following pre-employment requirements:

• Submit to and successfully pass DOJ live scan/fingerprinting. Cost of live-scan services to be borne by candidate.

• Sealed official transcript(s) in envelope from institution or electronic copies emailed directly from institution (for positions with higher education requirement)

• Tuberculosis (TB) risk assessment

• Other pre-employment requirements may be required depending on the position (i.e. certifications or licenses; see job posting qualifications section for details).
