Schmidt College of Science (COS) at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with expertise in Hard Rock Geology and/or Tectonics beginning August 2026. Research/Scholarship Responsibilities – The candidate will conduct research in any broad area of hard rock geology. The candidate should have a strong record of research accomplishments, demonstrated potential for extramural funding, and a commitment to excellence in education. Teaching Responsibilities – The candidate is expected to teach Structural Geology, as well as other core courses in the geology curriculum, such as Introductory Geology and/or Field Camp, as well as upper-level undergraduate and graduate courses within the applicant’s area of expertise. Supervision of undergraduate, M.S., and Ph.D. students is also expected. The candidate should show clear promise of excellent instructional capacity. They should be able to demonstrate their ability to understand learning differences among students and be able to foster and create educational opportunities where all students can thrive.
