Assistant Professor, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology **Galveston, Texas, United States** Faculty UTMB Health Requisition # 2504487 **JOB DESCRIPTION:** UTMB BMB seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in computational biological physics. The appointee will build an independent program that uncovers the physical principles of cell, nuclear, and genome organization and gene regulation using polymer/statistical-mechanics modeling, molecular dynamics, and machine learning integrated with genomic data; will collaborate across experimental and computational groups; and will teach/mentor at the graduate level. **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:** + Ph.D. in Physics, Biophysics, Computational Biology, Bioengineering, or a closely related field. + Postdoctoral research experience in theoretical/computational structural biology, chromatin biophysics, or physical genomics with a peer-reviewed publication record commensurate with rank. + Evidence of effective collaboration and mentoring; commitment to inclusive education. + Clear potential to secure extramural funding and to contribute to graduate/undergraduate teaching. **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:** + Depth in polymer simulations and biomolecular mechanics (e.g., supercoiling, SMC/loop-extrusion, nucleosome dynamics). + Experience analyzing genomic data, including Hi-C and epigenomic data + Demonstrated track record of student mentorship **SALARY:** Commensurate with experience. **EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY:** UTMB Health strives to provide equal opportunity employment without regard to race, color, religion, age, national origin, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, genetic information, disability, veteran status, or any other basis protected by institutional policy or by federal, state or local laws unless such distinction is required by law.
