We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Principal to support the leadership and administration of educational programs within a secure care facility. This role is essential to fostering a structured, trauma-informed learning environment that promotes academic achievement, personal growth, and successful reintegration for justice-involved youth. The ideal candidate will bring instructional leadership, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to equity and rehabilitation. Minimum Qualifications 1. Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate + Must hold a Type B or Level 2 (or higher) Louisiana Teaching Certificate. + This includes at least three years of successful teaching experience in a K-12 setting Position Description SCS will keep this document for six (6) years. 2. Educational Leadership Certification Must possess the following: + Educational Leader Level 1 (EDL1) Certificate issued upon completion of a BESE-approved educational leadership program and passing the School Leaders Licensure Assessment (SLLA). Note: Level 1 is the entry-level requirement for both assistant principals and principals. 3. Additional Requirements (varies by district or school system): + Demonstrated leadership ability or prior administrative experience may be required/preferred. + Completion of training in Compass (Louisiana's educator evaluation system) along with NIET beginning school year 2025-2026. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: + Assist the Principal in overseeing daily school operations, instructional delivery, and staff supervision + Support curriculum implementation aligned with Louisiana Department of Education standards + Monitor student progress and collaborate with teachers to develop individualized learning plans + Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive school climate through effective behavior management strategies + Coordinate professional development for instructional staff and support personnel + Ensure compliance with state education regulations, testing protocols, and agency policies + Serve as a liaison between education staff, facility administration, and external stakeholders + Participate in school improvement planning, data analysis, and program evaluation Position-Specific Details: Work Location: This vacancy is located at Swanson Center for Youth in Monroe, Louisiana.
