The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) frequently assumes patient assignments while serving as a clinical expert and key resource for inpatient operations, clinical decision-making, and issue resolution across the unit. Our H60 Neuroscience Unit is a highly specialized inpatient unit caring for patients with a broad range of neurological conditions, including stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, brain and spine tumors, Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, Guillain-Barré syndrome, Myasthenia Gravis, degenerative brain diseases, and complex spinal disorders, offering caregivers exceptional versatility and exposure.
The ideal ANM candidate brings experience caring for neurological patient populations and serves as a trusted clinical resource for staff within a stroke-focused environment. A strong passion for neurological care is essential. Prior experience providing care on a dedicated neurological unit and demonstrated leadership experience as a charge nurse, preceptor, or participant in unit-based committees is preferred.
This caregiver will also have the opportunity to grow professionally through our ANM Residency Program, ANM Mentorship Program, AND GLLI (Global Leadership Learning Institute) designed to support leadership development, clinical excellence, and long-term career advancement within the organization.
**This role is a night-shift position, scheduled from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., working three 12-hour shifts per week. The ANM role includes every other weekend rotation and occasional holiday coverage, coordinated collaboratively with team members to ensure balanced and consistent unit leadership coverage.**
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Supervise and coordinate unit clinical operations.
+ Provide direct patient care.
+ Facilitate communication and collaboration among unit caregivers and other departments.
+ Review major operational patient care issues with Nurse Managers.
+ Coach and counsel caregivers on performance issues, providing ongoing clinical feedback to caregivers. Interview, select and orient new caregivers.
+ Assist Nurse Manager with HR related issues.
+ Prepare work schedules to ensure adequate coverage on all shifts.
+ Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes, studies and research initiatives.
+ Assume responsibilities of the Nurse Manager in their absence.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing
+ Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
+ Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
+ 2 years of acute inpatient nursing experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Neuroscience nursing experience, particularly within stroke or complex neurological populations
+ Experience serving as a Preceptor or Charge Nurse, demonstrating leadership, mentorship, and clinical decision-making skills
+ Active participation in unit-based or organizational committees, reflecting engagement in quality improvement, professional governance, or practice advancement initiatives
Physical Requirements:
+ Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
+ Physical Demand requirements are more than those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
+ Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
**Pay Range**
Minimum hourly: $37.50
Maximum hourly: $57.60
