The G70 Hematology and Oncology Unit focuses on the diagnoses and treatment of various malignancies and hematologic diseases, from new diagnosis to the end of life. The dedicated caregivers on this unit provide the highest quality, safest care to adult patients receiving chemotherapy, targeted cancer therapies, radioactive iodine and other types of radiation therapies. G70 has a positive, team-oriented and supportive culture with daily 7am huddles for both the night shift and day shift to start/end their shift with an optimistic mindset. Within six months of starting on this unit, nurses can become 'chemo-competent' and become experts at administering chemotherapy and understanding chemotherapy reactions. **A caregiver in this position works day shifts from 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.** + A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Provide clinical supervision and coordinate unit clinical operations under the direction of the Nurse Manager. + Supervise and participate in delivering patient care, ensure continuity of patient care information between shifts, and coordinate patient admitting, discharges and transfers. + Provide ongoing clinical evaluations of caregivers, counsel caregivers on performance issues, administer initial corrective actions, monitor attendance issues and review major operational patient care issues with the Nurse Manager. + Interview, select and orient new caregivers. + Prepare work schedules to ensure adequate coverage on all shifts. + Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes, studies and research initiatives. + Monitor the adherence to EEO/AAP goals and guidelines. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing. + Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN). + Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). + Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) Or the American Red Cross + Two years of recent clinical nursing experience. Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Prior Assistant Nurse Manager experience **Physical Requirements:** + Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. + Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range. + Requires some exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids. + Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. + Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work. **Personal Protective Equipment:** + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. **Pay Range** Minimum hourly: $37.50 Maximum hourly: $57.60 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires.
