Job Status: Year Round Full Time

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation: Proposed hiring rate of $2,172.50 to $2,330.77+ biweekly amount, actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.

Job Summary:

The Banquets Assistant Manager supports the successful execution of conferences, weddings, concerts, and special events by overseeing daily banquet operations and Copper’s Business Center. This role includes hiring, training, and coaching team members, ensuring seamless event delivery, and maintaining high service standards. The Assistant Manager also stays current on industry trends and drives continuous improvement to enhance guest experience and operational efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Event & Guest Experience Management:

Oversee daily operations for conferences, weddings, concerts, special events, and F&B outlets, ensuring a high-quality guest experience.

Attend pre-cons, post-cons, BEO, F&B, and leadership meetings to ensure seamless event planning and execution.

Monitor service quality, resolve guest concerns, and reinforce standards to ensure timely, professional delivery of food and beverage.

Act as a Copper Mountain ambassador, modeling professionalism and exceeding guest expectations.

Operations & Facility Oversight:

Conduct inspections of banquet spaces and the Conference Center to ensure facilities are “Neat & Tidy.”

Coordinate and monitor maintenance, repairs, pest control, and sanitation compliance.

Manage signage, buffet labels, and digital displays to support event operations.

Oversee opening and closing procedures, including equipment checks, security systems, and building lock-up.

Ensure compliance with OSHA, SSDS, health, liquor, and sanitation regulations.

Financial & Administrative Management:

Oversee cash handling, deposits, payroll, credit card settlements, and employee timecards with accuracy.

Manage labor budgets, scheduling, and cost controls to meet departmental goals.

Reconcile sales and inventory using POS and inventory tracking systems.

Partner with Finance on revenue accounting, reporting, and compliance with wage, hour, tax, and licensing laws.

Maintain accurate business, employee, and compliance records.

Research and propose capital projects to improve banquet operations.

Staff Leadership & Training:

Recruit, hire, train, and develop banquet staff, including Housemen and Stewards.

Provide ongoing training on SOPs, service standards, sanitation, alcohol service (TIPS), and safety practices.

Supervise banquet, food, and bar service to ensure consistency and efficiency.

Retain and develop strong employees while addressing performance issues proactively.

Conduct scheduling and labor management to support operations within budget.

Food & Beverage Operations:

Coordinate banquet activities with the kitchen, bar, and event support teams.

Monitor food and beverage quality, service timing, and kitchen production to avoid delays.

Assist with food prep, cooking, service, or clearing when necessary.

Ensure compliance with standards for alcohol service, food handling, and sanitation.

Sustainability & Safety:

Support Copper’s sustainability initiatives, including composting, recycling, and waste reduction.

Maintain safe work practices that meet or exceed OSHA and resort safety standards.

Safeguard inventory, cash, and equipment through established security procedures.

Professional Development & Leadership Engagement:

Participate in leadership training, management development, and ongoing industry education.

Attend weekly one-on-ones with supervisor/GM and set goals aligned with departmental priorities.

Support Copper’s Front Line Assist program, stepping into operations when needed.

Engage in leadership responsibilities, including required trainings, staff events, and employee functions.

Support cleanliness and other general duties as required.

Use technology and industry resources for training, recruitment, procurement, and trend tracking.

Perform additional tasks as needed to support departmental and resort goals.

Preferred Experience and Special Skills:

College degree or equivalent experience with specific training in the areas of operation, customer service, finance, marketing and personnel

Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in actual food and beverage operations supervision

Knowledge of food and beverage equipment, required

Ability to operate company vehicles 

Moderate computer skills

Proven leadership skills

Business skills

Demonstrated interest and aptitude in food service, required

Proven ability to hire, train, coach and motivate large groups of employees
