Assistant Manager, Clinical Pharmacy - Overlook Medical Center

The Assistant Manager of Clinical Pharmacy oversees and supports the clinical pharmacy services, ensuring compliance with regulatory, organizational, and departmental standards. This role provides clinical leadership by managing pharmacy and medication management programs, coordinating education and training, and collaborating with healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy and patient care. Additionally, the assistant manager contributes to quality improvement initiatives, monitors performance metrics, and supports staff development and departmental goals.

General Responsibilities: 

Assure readiness with all regulatory agencies and compliance with department, hospital, and AH policies and procedures.  All documentation is maintained and/or submitted in a timely manner.  Reviews and develops policy and procedure, guidelines, and protocols to meet regulatory, organizational, and departmental requirements and best standards.  Ensure communication and team competencies for clinical pharmacy are ongoing and meeting all the regulatory, organizational and department requirements. Supervise clinical pharmacy team, and clinical pharmacy services.  Review and follow up on any disciplinary offenses, conduct performance reviews, recognize, and develop team members in their roles.  Actively participates in multi-disciplinary committees and meetings. Work collaboratively cross campus on improvements of clinical pharmacy services and medication use.    Support the pharmacist-in-charge in the vision and department goals, assist team members and is being flexible in roles and responsibilities.  Collaborative member of pharmacy leadership team assisting with departmental initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities: 

Coordinate departmental clinical and educational services, recommend, implement, and/or monitor new or existing programs.  Educate team members.  Prepare monographs and comparative analyses for drug formulary, develop evaluation criteria, and conduct drug use evaluations.  Function as a liaison to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee.   Provide communications regarding medication issues both inside and outside of department (e.g., drug shortages and recalls, P&T Committee updates).  Collaborates on resolving issues and providing alternatives.  Manage and oversee clinical pharmacy programs and services.  Provide clinical leadership, support the implementation of evidence-based practices, enhance medication therapy management, and collaborates with healthcare providers to optimize patient care. Assist in supervising clinical pharmacists and pharmacy residents.  Organize and deliver clinical training and education for pharmacy staff.  Assist in developing and implementing quality improvement initiatives related to clinical pharmacy services.   Monitor clinical performance metrics and outcomes.  Identify opportunities for improvement and implement evidence-based practices.
