As an Assistant Grocery Manager, you’ll help lead multiple key areas of store operations including grocery, dairy, frozen foods, HBC, inventory control, and receiving. You’ll support your team, create an exceptional customer experience, and help maintain the operational excellence that keeps our stores running smoothly. This role is ideal for someone with experience in grocery retail, stocking, merchandising, or supervisory roles looking for career growth. 
 

Main responsibilities:

Assist the Grocery Manager in the daily operations of the grocery, dairy, frozen, HBC, and receiving areas.   Supervise and support associates across all assigned departments, ensuring excellent customer service and adherence to company policies.   Help achieve department goals for sales, labor, shrink, inventory accuracy, and merchandising standards.   Perform stocking, product rotation, shelf allocation, and presentation tasks as needed.   Support staff scheduling, assignment of tasks, and oversight of labor to meet business needs.   Act as Department Manager when they are absent, including supervising 2–40 associates and taking corrective action when required.   Ensure compliance with food safety, workplace safety, and departmental standards.   Assist with training, coaching, and development of associates to support strong performance and store standards.   Engage customers through friendly, knowledgeable service, following the company’s selling behaviors to build lasting customer relationships. 

We are looking for candidates who possess the following:

Soft skills: Strong customer‑service orientation Leadership and team‑motivation skills Clear, professional communication Ability to work in a fast‑paced retail environment Problem‑solving and sound decision‑making  Competencies:  Experience in grocery, retail, stocking, or department leadership Ability to manage multiple priorities and support large teams Strong merchandising and organizational skills Understanding of inventory, rotation, and shrink control best practices  Knowledge: Retail grocery operations Food safety and workplace safety awareness Basic supervisory principles and coaching methods Department standards related to merchandising, pricing, and product handling  Abilities:  Lead and supervise teams in a fast‑paced setting Lift, bend, twist, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift Work in different store environments including dry, cooler, and freezer areas   Adapt to shifting priorities and operational needs Provide excellent service while managing department activities  Educational requirements: High School diploma or equivalent preferred Travel requirements: May require occasional travel for meetings or training  Other requirements:  Must be at least 18 years old and available for full‑time scheduling, including weekends and peak business times   Ability to work day or overnight shifts as assigned to support various crews.

Pay transparency language (if applicable)

Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Dependent on the length of service, hours worked and any applicable collective bargaining agreement, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay and retirement benefits pension and/or 401(k) eligibility.
