Starts players on the golf course explaining the rules of play for the day. Tours the golf course encouraging players to maintain a reasonable pace of play.
Essential Duties:
¨ Starts players on the first tee explaining the rules of play for the day.
¨ Maintains an accurate starting sheet so the whereabouts of players are known.
¨ Cues groups to move to the first tee and makes sure not more than one group is on the tee at on time.
¨ Tours the golf course assisting players when needed to maintain the posted pace of play for the day.
¨ Checks the restrooms and water stations on a regular schedule.
¨ Maintains proper spacing on the golf course to avoid delays.
¨ Completes the golfer tracking report on a daily basis.
¨ Reminds players of the cart rules of the day.
¨ Repairs ball marks and collects any trash that may be on the course. Replaces any hazard stakes or directional signage.
¨ Communicates with the Golf Shop and Starter on a regular basis.
¨ Monitors the course and ensure customer satisfaction. Assists golfers when needed.
¨ Reports all problem situations to the Head Professional in a timely manner.
¨ Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
¨ Regular and reliable attendance.
¨ Performs other duties as required.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Actively pursue PGA membership (if a PGA Apprentice) in a timely manner through the PGA Professional Golf Management (PGA PGM) program Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations Fundamental supervisory practices and principles Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills Self-motivated with desire to promote and market Service and customer focused attitude Experienced in written and oral business communications Remain up-to-date on customer relationship management tactics and strategies Utilize the resources of PGA player development programs such as Get Golf Ready, PGA Sports Academy, Tee it Forward and others Experienced computer user including; Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficient in other applications, i.e. email, internet, tournament and database Maintain and promote a positive professional image within the community Attend conferences, workshops, meetings, and trade shows to keep abreast of marketing and business trends Maintain a credible golf game and remain current on teaching innovations Assist with golfer check-in and fee collection; control and manage play Assist with all opening and closing procedures Assist in managing facility tournament operations including weekly events Assist in tournament operations and weekly events including planning, pre-tournament contracts, post- tournament billing, promotion, course set-up, preparation, scoring, prize distribution, and follow up Assist with men’s, women’s, and junior golf events and programs Assist with management of outside service staff to ensure the highest quality of customer service is achieved Assist in managing golf car operation, practice facility, and club storage service (as applicable) Directly responsible for timely and consistently maintaining the club’s USGA Handicap System Conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image at all times Assist with the administration of applicable staff via recordkeeping, work schedules, etc. in accordance with facility human resource policies Assist in coordinating golf activities with other departmentsPhysical Demands:
Frequently stands and walks; reaches with hands and arms. Regularly sits and uses hands; talks or hears. Occasionally stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls. Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.
Environment/Noise:
Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather). Noise level is moderate.
