Position Overview:

The Assistant General Counsel (AGC) serves as a senior legal advisor to the business, providing strategic, practical, and risk‑informed legal counsel across the organization. The AGC partners closely with business leaders to support company objectives, manage legal risk, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and company standards. This role balances hands‑on legal work with strategic guidance and cross‑functional collaboration, acting as a trusted legal resource and thought partner for the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal Advisory & Risk Management

Provide timely, business‑focused legal advice to internal stakeholders on a wide range of corporate, commercial, and operational matters within assigned practice areas.Identify, assess, and manage legal and regulatory risks; recommend practical solutions aligned with business objectives.Interpret laws, regulations, and contractual obligations and communicate implications clearly to non‑legal audiences.Look for creative ways to address issues/solve problems; use resources (internal/external) appropriately.

Contracting & Transactions

Draft, review, negotiate, and approve complex contracts, real estate documents and other legal documents, ensuring alignment with company standards and risk tolerance.Advise on dispute resolution related to contracts and business relationships, including negotiation and settlement strategies.Support major initiatives, transactions, or projects by providing end‑to‑end legal support from planning through execution.

Cross-Functional Partnership

Collaborate closely with individuals at all levels across the organization.Build strong working relationships and credibility as a pragmatic, solutions-oriented legal partner. 

Education/Skills and Experience Requirements:

Qualifications

Juris Doctor from an accredited law school; active license to practice law in at least one US state.Minimum 7 years of relevant commercial, corporate or retail legal experience required.In-house counsel experience is strongly preferred.

Strong negotiation and dispute‑resolution abilities.Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.Highly detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.Proven ability to build effective cross‑functional and external relationships.Business‑minded, solution‑oriented, and comfortable advising in a fast‑paced environment.Demonstrated ability to balance legal risk with operational needs.

Pay Range:

Annual Salary: $165,000.00 - $250,000.00
