**Job Title: Assistant Electrical Supervisor**
**Job Description**
We are seeking an Assistant Electrical Supervisor who will plan, assign, and inspect the work of approximately 10 electricians responsible for the installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment and infrastructure on a large university campus. The campus comprises approximately 4,000 feet of building space served by multiple high voltage electric feeders transformed to lower voltages at the building level. This role requires considerable independence within established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
**Responsibilities**
+ Schedule, coordinate, and supervise the installation of conduits, wiring, fixtures, devices, and equipment on campus.
+ Manage maintenance and switching of the high voltage electrical system, isolating buildings and cable sections for maintenance and repairs.
+ Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults in campus buildings and infrastructure.
+ Maintain campus fire alarm systems, including testing devices and diagnosing system issues.
+ Research and apply new operational methods, techniques, and equipment.
+ Review plans and provide input for future buildings, ensuring compatibility with existing codes and standards.
+ Manage complex electrical installations and repairs, aiming to improve operations and customer service.
+ Assist with preparation of specifications for purchasing electrical equipment and supplies.
+ Participate in capital planning for long-term electrical upgrades.
+ Ensure budgeting guidelines are met, prioritize shop expenditures, and assist in budget preparation.
+ Coordinate electrical outages as required.
+ Prepare and maintain electrical records and reports, including incident reports.
+ Ensure timely completion of preventive maintenance programs.
+ Anticipate and procure supplies and materials for daily operations.
+ Prepare labor and material estimates.
+ Develop written documents and reports using personal computers.
+ Apply basic principles and practices of employee supervision, including training and development.
+ Make decisions on hiring, evaluation, promotion, and termination of employees.
+ Interpret university and department policies, enforcing safety regulations and adherence to codes.
+ Be proactive in identifying and resolving problems early.
+ Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to bargaining unit contract rules.
+ Monitor and document grievances, warnings, and disciplinary actions.
+ Ensure productivity of carpentry staff throughout the workday.
+ Utilize time-keeping systems for accurate reporting of subordinate attendance.
+ Work overtime and respond to emergency calls 24/7.
**Essential Skills**
+ Electrical supervisory experience with 8-10 people.
+ Journeyman preferred.
+ Experience with controls, ventilation, motors, switch gears, installation, building repairs, and service.
+ At least 10 years' experience in electrical maintenance and repair.
+ Minimum of 5 years' experience in a supervisory role.
+ Experience with high voltage electrical systems, including switching and parallel operation.
+ Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ High school diploma or GED.
+ Experience supervising in a union environment is preferred.

**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $41.00/hr.
