ASSISTANT DIRECTOR / STUDENT-ATHLETE SERVICES

Position Summary:
Academic Coordinator for assigned teams: promotes academic success and retention of student-athletes; assists in monitoring continuing eligibility; mentors at-risk student-athletes; meets with prospective student-athletes on recruiting visits and provides coaches with relevant NCAA Eligibility Center information regarding prospective student-athletes.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in related field.
One year of experience working in a college student services area.
Commitment to academic integrity and compliance with University, Conference and NCAA regulations.
Positive interpersonal skills.
Ability to work and communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse educational and social backgrounds.
Ability to multi-task.
Effective organizational skills.
Strong listening skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Willingness to work irregular hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree.
Knowledge of Division I athletic programs.
Advising and academic support programming experience in an NCAA intercollegiate environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Academic Coordinator for assigned sports.
Provides academic support for student-athletes.
Mentors large population of at-risk student-athletes.
Assists with NCAA continuing eligibility certification of student-athletes for CMU, NCAA and Mid-American Conference eligibility.
Performs program presentations for recruitment of prospective student-athletes and their parents.
Monitors academic progress for student-athletes to ensure CMU graduation and NCAA eligibility.
Assists with student-athlete development programming.
Other duties as assigned.
