Join the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) and play a vital role in shaping a safer, more supportive environment for young people in our care. We’re looking for a dedicated and experienced professional to lead the daily operations of a youth detention center. This leadership role is key to ensuring a safe, secure, and rehabilitative setting for justice-involved youth while guiding and supporting staff in their professional growth. What You'll Do: + Lead the overall operation and administration of a secure youth detention facility. + Ensure the safety and security of youth by overseeing day-to-day facility functions and staff performance. + Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to staff to promote professional development and a positive work environment. + Oversee hiring, supervision, evaluation, and when necessary, disciplinary actions and staff development. + Manage budgets, resources, and administrative functions to support effective facility operations. + Monitor and evaluate facility programs, services, and safety procedures. + Respond to emergencies and implement appropriate crisis management protocols. + Develop, implement, and maintain facility policies and procedures in accordance with agency and legal standards. Minimum Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND + Three (3) years of closely related experience in a criminal justice or correctional system, OR + Three (3) years of supervisory custodial experience in a criminal justice or correctional system, including at least one (1) year at a managerial level in a law enforcement setting. Note: Some positions may require P.O.S.T. certification. Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with two or more of the following: + Four (4) or more years of supervisory experience in a secure adult or juvenile facility. + Experience managing security operations and emergency preparedness programs. + Background in mental health or juvenile detention center (JDC) services. + Current or former DJJ employment experience.
