The Department of Athletics at the University of Virginia is now accepting applications for the position of Assistant Director of Operations and Player Development to support the Men's Baseball program.
This part-time, hourly position will assist in day-to-day practice facilitation, travel, player development, facility oversight, and other duties as assigned by the head coach. This position exists to provide operational and logistical support to the Intercollegiate Athletic sport program of Baseball and to assist in achieving a nationally recognized program, both on and off the field, in a manner that meets all guidelines set by the University of Virginia, the ACC, and the NCAA.
Responsibilities
Provide exemplary customer service to internal and external constituencies, including in person, phone, and electronic communication.Provide operational and logistical support to all members of the Baseball coaching and support staff.Assist in preparation for games and practices.Support operational needs of the office and baseball program as assigned on day-to-day basis.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Must be able to accommodate overtime, including working irregular hours, and travel during the season.Must possess good communication and team building skills.Ability and desire to perform accurate, detail-oriented work, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and make sound judgments independently or as a team member.Knowledgeable of NCAA rules and regulations.Knowledgeable of baseball rules, terminology, and strategy.This is a wage position which is not eligible for leave or other benefits and is limited to 1500 hours of work in a year. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Diploma, Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Experience: Some working knowledge of the sport program to be supported
Licensure: None
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
