Our beautiful property is seeking an Assistant Director of Finance.This is a highly visible role with exposure to Senior and Corporate leadership. This position reports to the Area Director of Finance. **WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME IN THIS ROLE** The Assistant Director of Finance is a key driver in in supporting the financial health of the hotel. This position collaborates closely with the Area Director of Finance and operational leaders to drive financial performance, labor productivity, and data-driven decision-making. The role oversees core accounting functions while elevating the hotel’s analytical capabilities, ensuring accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and actionable insights that improve profitability. **key responsibilities** **Financial Reporting & Analysis** · Prepare and review monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Hyatt standards · Lead variance analysis (revenue, labor, expenses) vs. budget, forecast, and prior year; provide clear business insights and recommendations · Support financial reviews and presentations with ownership/leadership teams · Develop and maintain KPI dashboards (e.g., RevPAR, GOP, labor productivity, cost ratios) to support operational decision-making **Productivity & Cost Management** · Lead hotel productivity initiatives, with a strong focus on labor optimization and operational efficiency · Partner with department leaders to analyze staffing models, scheduling, and productivity metrics · Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement without compromising guest experience · Monitor departmental expenses and enforce accountability to financial targets **Accounting Operations & Month-End Close** · Oversee general ledger activities, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations · Ensure timely and accurate month-end close processes and reporting · Review balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies · Maintain oversight of AP, AR, and cash management functions **Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning** · Support the annual budget and monthly forecast processes · Build financial models and scenario analyses to support strategic planning · Facilitate collaboration with department heads to align operational goals with financial targets **Internal Controls, Compliance & Audit** · Ensure compliance with Hyatt policies and local regulations · Maintain strong internal controls and audit-ready documentation · Support internal and external audits, including preparation of schedules and responses to auditor requests **Leadership & Business Partnership** · Supervise and develop accounting colleagues, including training, coaching, and performance management · Serve as a strategic partner to operations, translating financial data into actionable insights · Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration · Support system optimization and process improvements to enhance reporting efficiency **Salary range: $85,000 - $100,000 annually** **Qualifications:** · Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. · Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership experience in a financial management position, preferably in hospitality. · Strong knowledge of hotel financial systems (e.g., Opera, Oracle, POS/PMS platforms) · Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills · Proven strategic planning experience at leadership level · Proven leadership and team development experience · Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills · Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence non-financial leaders · High level of integrity and ability to manage confidential information **core competencies** · **Financial Acumen** – Strong understanding of hotel financial drivers and profitability levers · **Productivity Focus** – Deep understanding of labor and cost efficiency metrics · **Analytical Thinking** – Ability to turn data into actionable insights · **Business Partnership** – Builds trust and influences operational leaders **WHAT ARE THE ADDITIONAL BENEFITS OF WORKING AT HYATT vancouver downtown alberni?** · Extended Health and Dental benefits for you and your dependents 30 days after joining · Employer RRSP Matching Contributions · Paid medical days and personal days · Complimentary hotel nights and discounts at Hyatt properties around the world · Tuition reimbursement program and career development program, Leading@Hyatt · Wellbeing Programs such as Headspace Being part of our Hyatt family means always having the opportunity to be yourself.
