Job SummaryThe Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement and Career Coach is an integral position within the Athletic Department, reporting directly to the Assistant Athletic Director of Alumni Engagement and Career. This role supports the vision of the Assistant Athletic Director, involving close collaboration with both Athletic Development and the University Alumni Association, while focusing on maintaining and tracking relationships with student-athlete alumni. A key responsibility will be managing the Graham Family Wolverine Career Network, a platform designed to connect current student-athletes with alumni for career mentorship, networking, and job opportunities, and preparing student-athletes for careers after sports.
This position plays a vital role in fostering strong, long-term connections between current student-athletes and alumni, contributing to the career development of future graduates while also strengthening the overall alumni engagement strategy within the Athletic Department. The Assistant Director will also be involved in data tracking, event planning, and providing critical support to ensure the success of initiatives that benefit both alumni and current student-athletes.
By acting as a liaison between various stakeholders, athletic staff, alumni, and the broader Michigan Athletics community, the Assistant Director helps further the mission of the Athletic Department and enhances the career success and alumni engagement of student-athletes.
Required Qualifications*Bachelor's degree required.1-3 years of related experience.Proficiency in managing platforms like career networks or alumni engagement tools (such as the PeopleGrove platform or similar online community tools).Experience in resume writing, cover letters and developing personal statements.Ability to work 40 hours per week, with flexibility to work evenings and weekends as necessary to support events or alumni engagements.High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Previous work in using social media and networking platforms (such as LinkedIn) to conduct outreach, post content, and engage with alumni or professional contacts.Background in compiling and analyzing data to create reports or dashboards that inform decision-making and guide strategy development.Modes of Work
