The Assistant Director of Human Resources plays a key leadership role in supporting the overall strategic direction of the HR function, ensuring that Hyatt’s purpose — to care for people so they can be their best — is brought to life every day. This highly visible position partners closely with department leaders and the Area Director of Human Resources to drive colleague engagement, labor relations, and people initiatives across the property.
As a union hotel, this role also serves as a critical liaison between management and our union partners, fostering a culture of collaboration, fairness, and accountability.
**Responsibilities**
**Leadership & Strategy**
+ Partner with the Area Director of Human Resources to develop and execute short- and long-term people strategies aligned with the hotel’s operational and cultural goals aligned with our values.
+ Act as an advisor to department Leaders on talent management, colleague engagement, labor relations, and workforce planning.
+ Champion Hyatt’s culture of care by fostering an inclusive, high-performing workplace that values communication, integrity, and teamwork to strengthen our community.
+ Support property-level participation in Hyatt’s global initiatives, including inclusion programs, community engagement, and sustainability efforts.
+ Help establish, update, and communicate HR policies and procedures to ensure clarity, structure, and fairness
**Labor & Colleague Relations**
+ Serve as a key liaison with union representatives, maintaining a positive and productive relationship between the hotel and union leadership.
+ Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and labor laws; advise Leaders on contract interpretation and grievance handling.
+ Participate in and assist with grievance meetings, arbitration preparation, and labor negotiations in partnership with the Area Director of HR and corporate labor relations.
+ Coach leaders on performance management and corrective action in alignment with company policies and union agreements.
+ Partner with managers on coaching conversations with colleagues, ensuring consistency and alignment with workplace standards.
+ Conduct fair, impartial investigations and support resolution of workplace concerns.
+ Promote a culture of transparency, respect, and consistency in all employee relations matters.
**Talent Acquisition & Development**
+ Oversee recruitment strategies that attract diverse, high-quality talent for both union and non-union roles.
+ Partner with hiring Leaders to ensure efficient, equitable, and compliant hiring practices along with developing staffing strategies to ensure the hotel is positioned with the right talent to meet operational needs.
+ Support onboarding programs that reflect Hyatt’s values and create a strong sense of belonging from day one.
+ Collaborate with leadership to identify training and development opportunities that enhance performance and prepare colleagues for future growth.
+ Oversee property-level training initiatives including new hire orientation, compliance, leadership development, and culture programs.
**Compensation, Benefits & HR Operations**
+ Support wage and salary administration, benefits programs, and leave management in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
+ Support payroll processes as necessary, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
+ Ensure accurate HRIS data and personnel files in accordance with Hyatt and legal standards.
+ Assist in managing HR metrics, reporting, and workforce analytics to support data-driven decision-making to enhance organizational effectiveness.
+ Oversee compliance to ensure adherence to employment laws, labor regulations, OSHA standards, and company policies.
+ Partner with corporate and regional HR resources to align property processes with Hyatt standards and best practices.
**SALARY** theSalary range for this position is $82,900 - $103,700. Actual pay will be commensurate with experience. This position will also be eligible for an annual bonus plan.

**Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Hospitality Management, Business, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
+ Minimum 3–4 years of progressive HR generalist experience, preferably within a unionized hotel or hospitality environment.
+ Comprehensive knowledge of employment law, collective bargaining, and labor relations practices.
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and build trust at all organizational levels.
+ Proven ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
+ Professional presentation and presence consistent with Hyatt’s leadership standards.
+ Experience with HRIS systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
