This role involves planning and executing transition programs and events, supporting the First-Year Seminar course, overseeing first-generation student initiatives, and collaborating with campus stakeholders to foster a seamless transition and ongoing success for all students. Core responsibilities also include project management, data analytics, and assessment activities that influence student retention, engagement, and overall achievement. The successful candidate will directly assist and report to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Success. Job Specification First-Year Experience (FYE) Program Coordination (30%): + Coordinate and support FYE programs, including bridge programs, college readiness events, and First-Year Convocation. + Supervise and mentor a team of 6 or more Peer Leaders; lead training and ongoing professional development. + Communicate with incoming students about FYE opportunities; track registration and participation. + Manage first-year and transfer student assessment data, input student data, and generate dashboards for Student Success team members, FYE instructors, and academic advisors. + Contribute to development and implementation of programs to support special populations, such as new transfer students, adult learners, students with risk factors, etc. + Collaborate with enrollment management offices, student services offices, and academic units to optimize processes and enhance student support systems. First-Year Seminar Support (10%): + Assist with coordination of instructor and Peer Leader assignments for first-year seminar sections. + Coordinate logistics for classroom presentations, workshops, and space reservations. + Assist the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Success with supporting instructors to ensure high quality and consistency of co-curriculum and programming across all sections. + Teach at least one (1) first-year seminar course annually. First-Generation Program Coordination (15%): + Oversee the administration of programs supporting first-generation students, ensuring access to resources and success services. + Support institutional requirements related to FirstGen Forward Network membership. + Collaborate with advisors and student officers of first gen student organizations (e.g., Tri-Alpha Honor Society; First Gen Leaders) to plan group events and ceremonies. + Track and assess student learning outcomes and success metrics for first-generation students to inform program improvement. Project Management & Support for Transformation Initiatives (30%): + Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and deliverables for student success initiatives, ensuring key milestones and deadlines are met. + Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion aligned with institutional goals. + Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration on large-scale transformation projects. + Contribute to new and existing initiatives and long-term strategic planning for student success aligned with university priorities. + Support institutional transitions (e.g., centralizing advising, centralizing internships) ensuring smooth implementation and continuity. + Serve on various committees and working groups to support transformation efforts. Data Analysis & Assessment (15%): + Collect and analyze data related to retention, academic performance, and student engagement. + Support student success team members in data analysis and assessment practices. + Create visual dashboards and reports to communicate findings effectively. + Use analytics tools to evaluate program effectiveness, identify trends, and support ongoing improvement efforts. Job Duties and Other Information Required Qualifications, Skills, and Characteristics + Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. + Minimum of three years’ experience in student affairs, particularly in student success, student development, academic advising, or related student support areas. + Direct experience working in First-Year Experience programs, or similar transition programs. + Strong understanding of student development theory and best practices in student services. + Knowledge of the challenges faced by contemporary students and effective strategies for support. + Proven ability to implement and assess programs that promote student success and retention. + Experience in using data-informed decision-making to implement evidence-based practices. + Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple initiatives. + Demonstrated proficiency in data analytics, visualization, and assessment tools. + Working knowledge of Louisiana Board of Regents recommendations, requirements, and strategic goals. + Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration abilities. + Customer service orientation with professionalism when managing multiple stakeholder demands. + Dedication to providing a welcoming and supportive environment that benefits all students, regardless of background or circumstance. Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Characteristics + Advanced degree in student personnel services, higher education administration, or a related field. + Eligibility to teach at the college level in accordance with SACSCOC accreditation standards (Master’s degree or higher). + Experience providing direct individualized support services to students. + Experience teaching college-level courses, particularly to first-year students. + Experience supervising and training student employees or professional staff. + Experience developing, articulating, operationalizing, and assessing strategic priorities. + Experience with student information systems and student success or retention platforms. + Professional development or certification in project management, data analytics, data visualization, and/or assessment highly desirable.
