The Assistant Director, Development will be responsible for acquiring philanthropic support for Creighton Athletics. Responsibilities include the cultivation and solicitation of major gifts both within Omaha and specific regions across the country. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Associate Athletic Director for Development to strategize opportunities to increase giving for Creighton Athletics. This position is organizationally a member of the Athletic Development Office which includes a strong partnership with Creighton Athletics.

Manage a portfolio of annual and major gift donors and prospects, as defined by working with the Creighton University Office of Development, from initial identification, cultivation, proposal development, solicitation and through stewardship, developing plans and programs to maximize gift revenue for Jaybackers, capital gifts and endowment gifts. Includes managing a portfolio of approximately 75-100 prospects and donors with 150+ personal visits annually. Assist with Athletic Development gift officers and hospitality staff to develop and execute a comprehensive cultivation and stewardship program for major and principal gift donors/prospects and high-end Jaybackers. Help development marketing and branding plan for Jaybackers and athletic development. Assist in all premium seating efforts for cultivation and stewardship purposes including but not limited to: men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball. Assist in sport specific giving programs and work as a liaison with 3-4 teams and the Athletic Development Office. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required. Minimum 1+ years of demonstrated donor relations experience is required. Experience with cultivating, soliciting and closing gifts. Experience working in customer relations is preferred. Familiarity with Advance, Reeher or comparable fund-raising database. Familiarity with Achtics, Advantage, Paciolin or comparable ticketing and donor database.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Demonstrate understanding of how Athletic Departments run in a University setting preferred and experience working with student-athletes, coaches and athletic department personnel. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to speak in a public setting. Ability to think strategically and quickly summarize complex and detailed information. Ability to travel nationally for athletics donor events including during week nights and over weekends. Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA and BIG EAST Conference guidelines, policies, rules and regulations with the ability to interpret, apply, enforce and explain such policies and rules. Appreciation and understanding of Creighton University’s mission and the ability to effectively communicate it.
