Job Summary The College of Business invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month appointment that combines two positions; a professional faculty appointment as Assistant Director for Student Success (0.66 FTE ) and a fixed-term, Instructor position (0.34 FTE ). Reappointment for the fixed-term Instructor positions, are at the discretion of the School Head. This position provides vision, strategic direction, and accountability for developing programs and services that support first year undergraduates’ recruitment (Corvallis and Ecampus), academic transition and student success in the College of Business. This position also provides instruction within the College’s first year BA160 series, BA101, Professional Development and Blueprint Courses. The incumbent will hold two appointments, a 0.66 FTE professional faculty position and a 0.34 FTE fixed-term academic faculty position as Instructor, reflecting job duties in both the academic and administrative arenas. The position reports directly to the Executive Director for Student Success for the College of Business. The purpose of this position is to provide strategic oversight for recruitment of first-year students both in Corvallis and Ecampus to the College of Business and oversees student success initiatives for students to the College of Business. This position also provides critical oversight for the process strategy for the DAMLab Makerspace. This position supports the Executive Director by providing overall management and supervision to select Student Engagement Programs and Program Managers. This person is responsible for providing leadership and strategic development of a variety of programs supporting the academic and professional success of students in the College of Business. This position is also responsible for the instruction, curriculum development, classroom management, and overseeing academic projects as part of the Student Engagement curriculum. This position is responsible for collaboration external to the College of Business and University to engage alumni, guests and support the professional development of future and current students. Additionally, this position is responsible for strong collaboration across the university (including but not limited to the Office of Admissions, Office of the Registrar, Head Advisors and Recruiters in all other colleges, and more) to help students in their onboarding and transition to the university directly impacting student satisfaction, success and retention. Duties include but are not limited to: management of 3 or more professional faculty, this position provides oversight of programmatic efforts specifically focusses on student retention efforts including new student orientation, international student support, mentoring programs, first year recruitment efforts (on campus and through e-campus), external and internal collaboration of retention efforts specifically supporting academic success AI initiatives and e-campus student success initiatives. They will manage the allocation of resources and prioritize programming, and curriculum development and implementation that support key metrics for recruitment, retention and graduation. This position will participate in strategic planning efforts that support the mission, vision, and goals for the College of Business as it pertains to the Student Engagement program. Key Responsibilities 30% – Student Success + Reports to the Executive Director for Student Success in planning programs that contribute to the program’s mission. + Provides coordination and expertise to entrepreneurial first-year experience programing within Innovation Nation. + Supports assessment strategies across the first year and blueprint series, incorporating diverse perspectives to address the needs of underrepresented student populations + Coordinates entrepreneurial first year courses among instructors to ensure consistency and alignment + Supervises and collaborates with Student Engagement’s staff, student workers and faculty to identify and implement enhanced events to promote the success of students. + Oversees the management of various student success support programs such as, the College of Business Dean’s Academy, academic success Programming, international student support, peer mentoring programs, ecampus students programming and more. + Trains, supervises, and mentors 3+ undergraduate/graduate students associated with student success programs. + Provides support for annual assessment and reporting of student growth, learning and retention. + Works with the College’s External Engagement team to engage alumni, industry representatives, and external guests in curricular and co-curricular activities and events with College of Business students, including small group employer and alumni meet-ups, industry panels, and guest speakers. + Interacts with a variety of internal and external customers (e.g., staff, student assistants, business owners, students and their families, companies, outside speakers, faculty, classified and administrative personnel in the college and throughout the university, vendors, and program sponsors) by phone, in person, electronically (website/email), etc. + Collaborates with Executive Director for Student Success and Associate Dean for Graduate and Undergraduate Programs to track student enrollment and retention statistics, gather data, and write reports regarding program success and impact. provide mentoring and opportunities for students from underrepresented groups; enable the advancement of diverse perspectives; and promote equitable outcomes among learners of diverse and underrepresented identity groups. 13% – DAMLab Makerspace Process Management + Co-manages day-to-day operations of the Buxton Hall makerspace for the College of Business with a focus on process management + Co-manages College of Engineering Partnership for DAMLab + Leads student entrepreneurial development first year experience + Manages all equipment operations, maintenance and replacement schedules to ensure capabilities are maintained for student use. + Responsible for safety training of all student users and employees utilizing the makerspace. + Primary liaison with UHDS Facilities staff, EH&S, and campus facilities to ensure continued safe operations. + Supports purchasing and budgeting of all necessary makerspace equipment, tracking and ordering all consumable supplies. 10% – Career Success Center Management for International Students + Collaborates with Assistant Director for Career and Student Success, Executive Director of Advancement, Associate Dean Student Programs and Executive Director for Student Success to provide direction and support for international student placement for internships and full-time employment. + Works with the College’s External Engagement team to engage alumni, industry representatives, and external guests in curricular and co-curricular activities and events with College of Business students, including small group employer and alumni meet-ups, industry panels, guest speakers, Career Fairs, to support international and graduate students. + Collaborates and maintains successful working partnerships with faculty, academic advisors and specialty support programs that provide international student support structures. + Contributes to the support and programming for College of Business international students + Understands the needs of, and communicates with, a wide spectrum of internal and external stakeholders such as faculty, School Heads, alumni and guests of the college regarding international student support. + Contributes to the leadership and strategy for international support in conjunction with College of Business strategic directives 7% – Administrative and Supervision of Professional Faculty and Instructors + Trains, supervises, mentors, and evaluates professional staff. + Meets regularly to monitor and support professional staff member goals and programming. + Plans, assigns, and reviews work regarding program logistics. + Advocates for opportunities for growth and professional development. + Develops performance goals and assesses performance in written evaluations; disciplines or effectively recommends discipline. + Creates an environment within the student engagement team that leverages strengths and accomplishments of staff, promotes synergy and teamwork, and empowers experienced professionals with diverse responsibilities. + Collaborates with other Student Engagement leadership team members to ensure alignment across all student engagement programming and support for College of Business students. 10% – Service + Collaborates with the Executive Director of Student Success in planning programs that contribute to the program’s mission. + Provides orientation, transition and retention expertise to the College of Business and programmatic efforts. + Plans, assigns, and reviews work regarding program logistics, providing coordination and expertise to the program, while ensuring an inclusive and supportive environment for all staff and students. Coordinates student work schedules and trains, supervises/mentors, and evaluates student assistants. + Disciplines or effectively recommends discipline, ensuring fair and equitable treatment for all staff and students. + Write letters of recommendation, as requested. + Service to College, University, and profession. + Engage in activities within the University and the profession, including contributing to College and University strategic initiatives that support DEI efforts and foster a more inclusive academic community. Serve on college and/or University committees, attend professional conferences or other trainings, and participate in college/University events as required. What You Will Need + Master’s degree in Business, Education, College Student Services and Administration, or a closely related field from an accredited university. + Demonstrated knowledge and experience in best practices of supporting retention efforts in higher education. + Experience with supporting students in their personal, professional and academic pursuits in a higher education setting. + Experience working in admissions, recruitment, or retention support programs. + Experience with management and supervision at an accredited university. + Demonstrated record of effective teaching at a high school level or accredited university. + Working knowledge of Canvas or other SLM systems, CORE , Banner and Beaver Hub + Working knowledge of a makerspace (or equivalent) student lab space + Excellent written and verbal communication skills, utilizing inclusive language and the ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy across diverse cultural boundaries. + Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills. + High computer proficiency; required qualifications include: strong MS office experience with Word, PowerPoint, Excel and working knowledge of Outlook and Windows/Mac. + Ability to juggle multiple tasks and responsibilities, prioritize appropriately, pay careful attention to details, and meet deadlines. + Ability to maintain professional decorum, as well as know or can demonstrate ability to learn and work within OSU system. + Ability to work with ambiguity. + Demonstrated commitment to educational equity and a commitment to advancing the participation of diverse groups and supporting diverse perspectives. Working Conditions / Work Schedule The incumbent is responsible for maintaining a flexible work schedule. Some evenings and weekend work is required.
