PurposeThe Assistant Director for Corporate and Foundation Relations supports the team strategy of driving new and existing corporate and foundation partnerships through consistent outreach, connection and follow up with a variety of partners focused on recruitment, engagement and investment opportunities with McCombs. This position manages a portfolio of companies with the goal of creating mutually beneficial relationships to enhance corporate and academic partnerships. The Assistant Director reports to the Senior Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations and supports the development and implementation of an annual strategic plan for CFR partnerships primarily through portfolio management.
ResponsibilitiesPortfolio Management and Relationship Development Cultivate, solicit, and steward active and new corporate and foundation relationships to drive gifts and resources for Texas McCombs.Engage in qualification, strategy, relationship building, and closing of corporate and foundation gifts. Identify key alumni at target companies for development outreach.Oversee company engagement and facilitate involvement opportunities including executive cultivation, campus visits, classroom speaking engagements, special events, donor recognition, and fund raising events.Document corporate interactions, gifts and engagement in all CRM systems.Interface with internal stakeholders (faculty, program offices, centers, career services and alumni relations) to determine and be well-versed on corporate sponsorship initiatives in order to make connections between partners goals and program needs.Work with cross-campus partners on collaborative efforts across campus.Travel as needed to visit prospective/current corporate partners to identify advocates and deepen existing relationships.Support Development Team EffortsCollaborate with the Senior Director to develop and execute corporate relations team strategy; including special projects and priority projects such as reviving and re-conceptualizing sponsorship programs as needed.Assist with and/or lead team analytics projects as needed.Support the preparation of compelling and persuasive proposals, with associated budgets, to corporations, foundations, and other organizations in collaboration with the Director. This may include serving as lead author, refining messaging, providing substantive editorial support, proofreading, and/or providing baseline review comments.Support the fulfillment of donor acknowledgment and stewardship reporting, including maintenance of reporting protocols and processes.Support McCombs marketing, events and initiatives as needed.Assist Senior Director and Director as needed to support large corporate accounts.Administration and ResearchResearch philanthropic interests and capacity of corporations, private foundations and organizations as relevant to current and new prospects.Prepare agendas and supporting materials for strategic meetings with foundations and corporations.Draft and prepare invoices, agreements, NDA’s and other documents as necessary for gifts.Supports hosting corporate and foundation visits on campus.Special Projects and Other DutiesAssist the Senior Director and Director with other duties and special projects as assigned. Other related functions as assigned.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree required. Five or more years of experience in development, account management, customer service, career services, university relations, sales, employment services, or related experience.Demonstrated professional experience involving relationship building, cultivation and management.Self-starter who can balance multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced working environment.Ability to work with flexibility, efficiency, enthusiasm, and diplomacy both individually and in collaboration with multiple constituencies.Relate well to coworkers, peers and superiors of the University, as well as to donors and prospective donors.Strong customer service ethic and experience overseeing successful stewardship events and activities.Professional business acumen with a demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.Able to synthesize complex material and have great attention to detail and accuracy.Proven ability to meet time deadlines and employ strategic insight in project and client outreach.Flexibility to travel and work varying hours, as required by the job.Must be very comfortable working in a highly computerized environment including database management, Internet research, Power Point, Excel, e-mail, and other tools.Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred QualificationsProfessional experience in a development, sales or career services role performing a variety of fundraising activities, corporate recruitment, and engagement activities.Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective rapport with range of stakeholders from senior executives, recruiters, alumni, faculty, and staff, to students.Familiarity with Salesforce, VIP, Smartsheet or other CRM management systems is strongly preferred.Experience creating, monitoring, and reporting on metrics for success of outreach efforts.Experience with solicitation and stewardship of corporate and foundation donors.Experience working with mid-level and senior executives, senior administration, students and faculty.Salary Range$70,000 + depending on qualificationsWorking ConditionsMay work under standard office conditions with repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.Use of manual dexterity.Some evening and weekend hours may be required during peak periods and special events.Flexible M-F work shift may vary depending on time of year.This is an Austin, Texas-based position.Applicants must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
