4 Year Degree Saint Anselm College, a private liberal arts college in the Benedictine tradition, is seeking an Assistant Director of Athletics Communications reports to the Director of Athletics Communications and assists with all aspects of media coverage for the College’s 23 NCAA Division II teams. The Assistant Director must be committed to excellence and to advancing the Department of Athletics through a variety of media outlets. Duties include managing all areas of athletic communications for the intercollegiate athletic program including the development and implementation of strategies to increase awareness of the department's achievements. Creates, researches, writes and edits publications and web content for the Saint Anselm sports programs; hires, trains and assigns a large student worker group and table staff for home contests, serves as the point person for Sidearm Sports and the NE10 Conference. Designs game previews, audio and video interviews; manages the athletic website content to create a positive public message and image for the department. The Assistant Director issues press releases, responds to all media inquiries, is responsible for all statistical records for the athletic programs, attends and covers home games, provides results to the media and posts appropriate recaps and game notes on the website in accordance with college approved style and policy.Essential Responsibilities and Position Accountabilities: •Work with Director of Athletics Communications and Associate A.D. for External Operations on the development and implementation of a strategic communication plan for Athletics •Work collaboratively with selected campus units and constituents to disseminate pertinent information in a timely fashion •Hire, train, supervise and schedule student workers who help with public address, scoreboard operation, tracking official NCAA statistics, distributing stats, and playing music at events •Serve as the official statistician and press box/table manager for all applicable home athletics events •Produce and post feature stories and miscellaneous press releases when applicable •Organize post-game interviews with coaches and student-athletes when applicable •Serve as liaison to media and respond to general media queries and requests as well as coordinate coach/student-athlete interviews •Maintain statistics, rosters, schedules, results, historical records, archives and student-athlete and coaches bios •Work closely with the NE10 and the NCAA to submit statistics, nominate student-athletes for weekly and seasonal awards, and provide miscellaneous aid in order for the conference and national offices to maintain their respective websites •Assist the Athletics Department in planning miscellaneous athletics events (e.g. awards night, hall of fame, special awards presentations, etc) •Encourage and create an atmosphere of sportsmanship, professionalism and respect among the staff, coaches and student-athletes within the program •Other duties as assigned by department’s senior leadership team
Minimum of 2 years of athletics management, leadership, and administrative experience preferred. Comprehensive understanding of multiple facets of NCAA athletics required. Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated excellence with interpersonal communications (written and oral) skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment is necessary. Ideal candidate will have excellent branding skills, strong strategic thinking and problem solving abilities and experience with several social media outlets. Attention to detail and accuracy; customer service oriented and able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, coaches and campus and external entities. Must be comfortable working in team environment with a positive attitude and sense of humor. Unwavering commitment to academic integrity, inclusion, diversity, gender equity, student-athlete welfare and knowledge of NCAA, Title IX compliance.
Experience working with Stat Crew software and experience with desktop publishing software, such as InDesign and Photoshop, video streaming and editing hardware and software, word processing and general office software programs required. This position will require travel, working weekends and variable hours, including nights and weekends.
