The Assistant Corporate Controller is responsible for ensuring that the transactions of the business have been properly accounted for each month. This position will be responsible for applying US GAAP, analyzing financial information and reviewing monthly plant level reporting. The Assistant Corporate Controller will also partner with the Corporate Controller and other key stakeholders in the organization to define financial requirements to achieve strategic goals and initiatives and seek out appropriate resources to drive success.
1. Manage, develop and mentor the cost accounting, credit & collections and cash application teams.
2. Oversee the month end close process for the plants and A/R, ensuring all deadlines are met and activities are completed accurately.
3. Prepare, review and analyze financial information so that senior management has accurate and timely information for making financial decisions.
4. Assist with annual external audits, providing supporting data and addressing any audit findings in a timely and effective manner.
5. Assist in the annual plant budget preparation.
6. Assist with annual business insurance renewals and overall program administration.
7. Identify and drive process improvements, automation and standardization that will reduce exposure to financial misstatements as well as result in greater efficiencies.
8. Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure within multiple systems.
9. Assist in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures.
10. Create ad-hoc reporting and work on special projects as required by Senior Management.
11. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base and understanding of GAAP.
12. Perform other duties as required.
Job Qualification Requirements
Bachelor's Degree and/or Master's in Accounting Minimum of seven (7) years of experience including with cost accounting within a large manufacturing environment are required. Five (5) years in a management role leading a team of accounting/finance professionals is preferred. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is required. Ability to demonstrate strong leadership and team building skills in order to motivate and manage direct reports as well as those on the operations team to drive change within the existing business processes. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Ability to communicate effectively verbally and written with employees across all levels within the company.Physical Demand Requirements
