Our client is seeking an Assistant Controller with initiative who can solve problems and develop a finance team for a fast growing Winnipeg group of construction and property management companies.
Reporting to the Controller, you will join a collaborative, entrepreneurial culture and have the ability to make a significant impact with a wide scope of responsibilities.
Key responsibilities include:
Support the Controller in managing the accounting for all operating, holding and construction companies. Lead and mentor the finance department. Participate in the creation of operational budgets and forecasts. Identify and implement process improvements which impact customer quality and improve internal operating efficiency. Complete month-end and year-end accounting procedures including journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts and variance analysis. Completing year-end working papers and tax schedules. Provide guidance on all accounting matters including financial systems, record keeping, analysis and reporting. Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of internal controls. Support the Controller and Management Group on various projects to support continued growth of the business.What the successful candidate will bring:
A CPA designation or in final stages of program. 5+ years of accounting and finance experience with proven experience in Controller or Manager capacity. Work well in fast-paced and growth-oriented environment. High attention to detail and driven for high quality results. Ability to lead and develop a team. Excellent problem solving skills with initiative and ability to take charge. Commitment to delivering excellence and continuous process improvement. Strong people skills and ability to work with all stakeholders. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to change. High level Excel skills and comfort with accounting software. Advanced experience with general leger functions, creating financial statement and month-end/year-end processes. Thorough knowledge of Federal, Provincial and local accounting principles and filing requirements. Experience in Property Management would be an asset.In return, you can expect:
