Assistant Controller
Description Lisa Cole with Robert Half is partnering with a well-established government contractor and manufacturing company that is looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join our dynamic team in Rancho Cordova, California. This role offers the opportunity to oversee essential accounting operations and ensure compliance with regulatory standards, while driving financial accuracy and process improvements. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a passion for developing high-performing teams. This is an onsite position in Rancho Cordova CA and the client is willing to pay a relocation fee for the right candidate. Responsibilities: • Supervise all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, cost accounting and internal and external audits. • Lead the month-end closing process and prepare accurate financial reporting packages in a timely manner. • Implement and maintain robust internal controls to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and government standards. • Oversee cost accounting procedures, reconcile inventory, and collaborate with operations to address discrepancies. • Ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with ASC606 and work closely with program teams on contract obligations. • Manage and coordinate internal and external audits while addressing regulatory requirements. • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and lead initiatives to improve accounting systems. • Provide mentorship and guidance to the accounting team to foster growth and operational efficiency. Requirements Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role. • Comprehensive understanding of U.S. GAAP, ASC606, and government accounting standards. • Hands-on experience with month-end closing and financial audits in multi-entity organizations. • Willingness to work extended hours during critical deadlines.
