Allied Universal Janitorial Services, an Allied Universal® Company, is hiring an Assistant Controller. The Assistant Controller is responsible for the preparing and reviewing of financial statements and entries related to the Janitorial Services Business Unit owned by Allied Universal. While working closely with the Controller, the Assistant Controller will assist in managing a small team of employees responsible for the accounting practices including general ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and contract administration.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop accounting organizational strategies by contributing accounting and financial information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction; establishes functional objectives in line with organizational objectivesManage the general ledger accounting function to ensure all month end financial closing activities are completed timely and efficiently.Ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting is completed on timeMaintain an effective and efficient internal control structure to ensure the accuracy of the financial information, and compliance with GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) and Allied Universal policies and proceduresProvide support to external auditors and consultants and ensure completion of the year end-end SOX auditHire, coach, and train professional accounting staff to build Allied Universal and accounting knowledgeCollaborate with other Allied Universal departments to support company initiatives and raise basic financial literacy throughout the organizationCoordinate In monthly operational review with Janitorial senior leadership teamsEvaluate enhancing systems and processes with the introduction of new technology, including but not limited to automated reconciliation tools, robotic automation, and enhanced reporting toolsQUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):
Must possess a Bachelor's degree in AccountingMinimum of five (5) years of experience in a role of increasing responsibility in accounting and financePrior experience in a management/supervisory role, preferably in a corporate finance settingDemonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage competing deadlinesProfessional, articulate, and able to use excellent independent judgment and discretionProven ability to maintain correspondence, discussions, and materials in strictest confidenceOutstanding oral and written communication skills required with the ability to successfully interact at all levels of the organizationPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE):
Public Accounting experience CPA or Master's in Business or Accounting Experience with job costing revenue recognitionMergers and Acquisition (M&A) experienceBENEFITS:
Pay: $110,000 - $140,000 base salary, plus a 10% annual bonus eligibility Medical, dental, vision, basic life, AD&D, and disability insuranceEnrollment in our company’s 401(k)plan, subject to eligibility requirementsEight paid holidays annually, five sick days, and four personal daysVacation time offered at an accrual rate of 3.08 hours biweekly.
