Description
Maintain the dealership's general ledger and oversee accurate monthly and annual financial closing processes.
Prepare and analyze financial statements, balance sheets, and P&L statements for the Dealer Principal and management team.
Develop budgets and forecasts; monitor and report on variances to ensure alignment with dealership goals.
Work directly with department managers (sales, service, parts, body shop, F&I) to:
Review monthly financials and explain variances.
Train and mentor managers on interpreting financial statements.
Identify and manage expense control opportunities.
Develop action plans to improve profitability.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, OEM financial requirements, and all applicable state and federal regulations.
Establish and monitor internal controls to safeguard dealership assets.
Oversee cash flow management, credit lines, and financial relationships with lenders, auditors, and external accountants.
Partner with the Office Manager to ensure accuracy in payroll reconciliations, warranty schedules, manufacturer receivables, and daily postings.
Monitor and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and key adjustments.
Provide training, support, and leadership to administrative staff, fostering financial literacy across the organization.
Assist in strategic decision-making, modeling impacts of operational changes, investments, and expansion opportunities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of accounting experience required
Degree in Accounting preferred
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Automotive industry experience a plus
Experience with dealership management systems (such as CDK) a plus
Ambition to step into a Controller position in 2–3 years

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $58.00/hr.
