Assistant Controller
Description We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team in Hilliard, Ohio. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in financial management and accounting. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead key processes, collaborate across teams, and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting. Responsibilities: • Oversee the month-end close process for assigned properties, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and reconciling general ledgers. • Review and finalize monthly financial statements and variance analyses to ensure accuracy and completeness. • Enforce internal controls and compliance with company policies to maintain the integrity of financial reporting. • Manage accounts receivable, cash management functions, and fixed asset schedules, including depreciation and reconciliations. • Provide support for annual budgeting, reforecasting, and reconciliations related to common area maintenance, real estate taxes, and insurance. • Collaborate with property management and asset management teams to address and resolve financial inquiries. • Ensure accurate revenue recognition by reviewing lease abstracts and interpreting lease terms. • Supervise investor accounting processes, including investor setup, distributions, and deal configurations within Yardi software. • Prepare financial statements for private equity funds and assist with annual fund audits. • Lead and participate in system implementations, process improvements, and automation projects. Requirements • Proficiency in accounting systems such as Yardi or MRI • Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting functions. • Expertise in financial reporting, auditing, and variance analysis. • Experience with fixed asset management, including capitalization and depreciation. • Familiarity with lease accounting and revenue recognition. • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. • Demonstrated skill in managing and mentoring accounting staff. • Experience with system transitions, process automation, and implementing improvements Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
