Assistant Controller

Description We are looking for a highly skilled Assistant Controller to join our team in Torrance, California. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with the North American Divisional Controller, supporting both financial planning and analysis (FP& A) as well as general ledger (GL) functions. Ideal candidates will bring a strong background in finance and accounting, particularly within the manufacturing industry, and demonstrate proficiency in cost accounting and forecasting.
Responsibilities:
• Manage and oversee standard cost accounting processes to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare monthly cash flow forecasts and analyze variances to provide actionable insights.
• Collaborate with the Divisional Controller to support financial planning and analysis (FP& A) activities.
• Perform general ledger (GL) accounting tasks, including reconciliations and adjustments.
• Utilize advanced Excel skills to create and maintain financial models and reports.
• Assist in preparing budgets and tracking performance against financial goals.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations, including DCAA requirements.
• Work with accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) teams to streamline processes.
• Contribute to audits and provide necessary documentation for financial reviews.
• Leverage accounting software systems such as ADP, Concur, and Crystal Reports for efficient data management. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting is required.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in finance and accounting roles.
• Proven expertise in the manufacturing industry is essential; aerospace experience is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency in financial planning and analysis (FP& A) and general ledger functions.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling and data analysis.
• Familiarity with accounting software systems like ADP, Concur, and Crystal Reports.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
