The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) is seeking highly qualified applicants for their fulltime Assistant Commissioner for Student Affairs/Secondary Education Initiatives position in the Office of Technical Education. This position supports the Chief Academic Officer in developing and implementing policies, programs, and services that promote student success, across the 22 Technical Colleges. This leadership role involves coordinating with educational institutions, regulators, and other stakeholders to ensure high standards across all Student Affairs and Secondary Education Initaitves departments. The position is open to all applicants that meet the minimum qualifications below.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assists with the development of grant applications, budgets, reports, and evaluations, making adjustments to meet objectives
· Assist in the development and execution of strategic initiatives that support college enrollment efforts and student success.
· Monitor and evaluate institutional compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures.
· Provide technical assistance to college-level student affairs leaders on best practices and program implementation.
· Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., Academic Affairs, Adult Education, Campus Safety) and external organizations to address student needs.
· Analyze data and trends in student enrollment, retention, and satisfaction to inform policy decisions.
· Participate in or lead task forces, committees, or working groups focused on student-related issues.
· Assist in budget preparation and oversight for student services and related programming.
· Represent the System Office in meetings, conferences, and public engagements.
· Oversee the System Office student grievances and escalate concerns when necessary.
· Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree from a nationally accredited institution and three (3) years of relevant experience in higher education administration, student affairs, or a related field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Doctoral degree in leadership or related field from an accredited institution and five (5) years of relevant experience in technical and/or community college administration at the institutional and/system level
· Demonstrated leadership in developing student-centered initiatives and services
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
· Strong understanding of student development theory, higher education policy, and program assessment
· Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
· Proven ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders
· Data-informed decision-making and program evaluation skills
· Strong organizational, project management, and leadership skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service and stakeholder engagement
