The ideal candidate will have had played hockey at the Division I level, plus have some Division I coaching experience recruiting at a high-academic institution. Be a member of a decision-making team (coaching staff) under the direction of the head coach in planning, coaching, recruiting, administering, and promoting the women’s ice hockey program within NCAA, Ivy League, ECAC and institutional standards. The Assistant Coach plays a critical role in achieving the overall goals of the women’s ice hockey program by providing important recommendations and suggestions to the head coach (regarding game strategies, line-ups, priority listing of recruits, etc.) as well as offering initiative and independent judgment (e.g., in providing coaching instruction, evaluating and communicating with prospective recruits and their parents, and representing the women’s ice hockey program to constituents).
6 years relevant ice hockey experience at the collegiate level or higher (combination of playing and/or coaching). Strong knowledge of ice hockey skills and strategies. Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people in a diverse community. Strong organizational skills. Ability to recruit effectively with no athletic grants and highly selective admissions standards. Significant recruiting experience. Must possess and maintain valid driver’s license to accommodate recruiting and responsibilities.
