The primary duties of University of Washington Athletic Department coaches are to teach, instruct, educate and impart knowledge to student-athletes regarding the rules and fundamentals of their respective sport with the goal to continuously improve and achieve athletic excellence.
The Assistant Coach – Track & Field will assist the Director of Track and Field and Head Coach in the successful operation of the program, and will build and maintain positive working relationships with coaches, staff, and athletes. Primary coaching role will assist with all events in track and field, while also working with staff towards goals of excellence in all aspects of the program, represent the University of Washington, the Athletics Department, and the program with the highest professional and ethical behavior.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Assist with recruitment of prospective student-athletes. Manage general recruiting inquiries, scheduling, and set up of official visits. Evaluate and recruit local athletes and prospects. May participate in selection of the student-athletes.
+ Assist with coaching of student-athletes in assigned specialties, administration and planning of practices, management of meets and events, and planning and administration of conditioning programs.
+ Coordinate with Compliance staff to ensure student-athlete eligibility and with Academic staff to promote the academic progress of each student-athlete. May assist with supervision and logistics of team travel, prepare reports, maintain records, assist with media and alumni relations, and other duties as assigned.
Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
Bachelor’s degree and minimum of five years of experience playing, or coaching, or working at the collegiate or professional level and proven ability to relate to student-athletes. Requires knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
**Compensation, Benefits and Position Details**
**Pay Range Minimum:**
$75,000.00 annual
**Pay Range Maximum:**
$95,508.00 annual
**Other Compensation:**
- Taxable benefits include tickets to UW Intercollegiate home competitions. - Non-local candidates may be eligible for a moving allowance.
