The AO salary band for all full-time, 11-month positions at the college with this classification have a minimum rate of $40,504 and a maximum rate of $86,538. For benefit purposes only, the workweek is estimated to be 35 hours per week. The actual schedule for exempt positions may vary based on the workload and responsibilities assigned.
Reporting to the head coach, the assistant coach will assist in all aspects of program operation including organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, trainings, and competitions, among other responsibilities. The assistant coach will help support the head coach in identifying and recruiting qualified prospective student-athletes. The individual will supervise student workers and others associated with the program, assist with program administration and budget oversight and support the head coach with the student-athlete academic success and retention.
Responsibilities include: • Coordinating all program operation efforts at the direction of the head coach. • Assisting in the planning, organizing, and execution of all practices. • Attending and participating in all practices and contests. • Assisting in game/practice preparation, including film breakdown sessions; development of game plans and scouting reports related to each contest, among others. • Monitoring and supporting academic progress of team members. • Recruiting qualified prospective student-athletes for successful participation. • Adhering to all applicable policies and regulations including but not limited to the NCAA, The Centennial Conference, McDaniel College, and McDaniel Athletics. • Promoting the academic progress and graduation of student athletes. • Fulfilling other departmental duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum of previous coaching required. Experience at the college or professional level preferred. Ability to pass the NCAA rules test. Strength and Conditioning Certification preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong, detail-oriented, organizational skills. Ability to use technology such as Microsoft, email, internet, Frontrush, Hudl, and other related software. A strong knowledge and experience working with athletes, teams and programs. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with employees, coaching staff, student-athletes, vendors, alumni, and general public Ability to manage and supervise staff including training, scheduling, and evaluating Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible work week schedule including evenings and weekends Ability to speak effectively, and present information one-to-one and in small group situations. Two or less points on valid driver’s license.
