Carnegie Mellon University’s department of Athletics is searching for an Assistant Swimming and Diving Coach/Aquatics Assistant. A national research university, Carnegie Mellon is a member of the NCAA Division III and University Athletic Association. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by providing assistance to the head coach with all aspects of the swimming program. This is a full-time, 10-month, recurring academic year position.

 

Core responsibilities will include:

Assist head coach with all aspects of the swimming program including on-deck practice and preparation for practice, meet preparation and set up, weight room supervision and assistance,  travel and other duties as assigned by the head coach

Demonstrate sincere interest in personal, academic and athletic progress of student-athletes

Exhibit supportive and cooperative behavior pursuing sport programs goals set by head coach

Recruitment of potential student athletes via phone, email or personal contact

Assist the Aquatics Coordinator/Asst Swim Coach in all aspects of pool management and aquatic activities, teaching in the physical education program, as well as other assigned administrative duties

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred

1-3 years of collegiate coaching experience required

Previous collegiate experience preferred

A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

 

Requirements:

Successful completion of a pre-employment background check

Child Protection Clearances (Act 153)

Motor Vehicle Records (MVR)

Sponsorship: Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States. CMU will not sponsor or take over the sponsorship of an employment visa for this opportunity.  Carnegie Mellon is not a qualifying employer for the STEM OPT benefit: only the 12-month OPT may be used to work at Carnegie Mellon.
