Assistant Chief Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintenance and Operations:

Supervise and direct maintenance staff on shift, overseeing their assigned tasks.Implement and manage preventive maintenance programs for building systems.Respond to and resolve maintenance requests and equipment malfunctions ensuring minimal disruption and downtime.Assist in installing, maintaining, repairing and operating critical facility systems, including HVAC, electrical, and life safety systems.

Team Management:

Provide training and guidance to maintenance staff to enhance their skills and professionalism.Monitor staff performance and ensure adherence to safety protocols and procedures.

Administrative Tasks:

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment readings, and inventory and perform quality assurance audits as required to ensure client’s compliance.Assist in preparing purchase orders for necessary supplies and equipment and accurately report when maintenance and repair work is done for billing purposes.Coordinate with vendors and contractors for various maintenance tasks.

Safety and Compliance:

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and proper handling of hazardous materials.Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Support Role:

Assist the Chief Engineer as needed and assume their responsibilities in their absence.Responsible for understanding and complying with emergency escalation procedures.Participate in on-call rotations to address after-hours emergencies.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent4+ years of technical and hands-on experience in facility/plant/data center engineering maintenance2+ years of supervisory experience

Technical Skills:

Working knowledge of HVAC systems (cooling tower, chiller, pump and valve), boilers, plumbing, controls, electrical systems (UPS, STS, PDU, emergency generators, and switchgear).Familiarity with building automation systems and preventive maintenance practicesBasic computer skills, including use of MS Office and maintenance management software
