Job Description
Cushman & Wakefield is looking for a proactive and organised Assistant Building Manager to support the day-to-day operations of a commercial facility or campus. This role involves working closely with the Facilities Manager to ensure all building services are delivered to the highest standard, in line with client expectations and company policies.
You’ll support all aspects of facilities operations, including engineering, cleaning, maintenance, health & safety compliance, and vendor management. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, technical knowledge, and a hands-on, solutions-focused approach.
Key ResponsibilitiesFacilities & Operational Support
Oversee daily operations of the site, including cleaning, life-safety systems, engineering, site services, and maintenance.
Act as a key point of contact for building occupants, contractors, and vendors for day-to-day issues.
Support the Facilities Manager in responding to maintenance requests and delivering ongoing service contracts.
Proactively inspect building areas and systems; report and escalate issues as needed.
Contract & Vendor Management
Support the review and management of vendor contracts; ensure service levels and pricing are in line with agreements.
Ensure all vendor invoices align with agreed rates and are processed correctly.
Monitor vendor performance and ensure appropriate insurance and compliance documentation is maintained.
Compliance & Documentation
Maintain up-to-date site documentation, including operating manuals, emergency procedures, compliance logs, contractor files, and risk assessments.
Assist with audits and ensure adherence to local health and safety, building compliance, and Cushman & Wakefield policies.
Financial & Reporting Support
Assist with budget tracking, cost control, purchase orders, and invoice approvals.
Contribute to reporting and data collection to support monthly and quarterly facility management reports.
Support the development of capital improvement plans and long-term maintenance schedules.
Qualifications & ExperienceEssential:
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in facilities, property, or building management
Knowledge of health & safety legislation and building compliance standards
Experience in day-to-day management of contractors and service providers
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Desirable:
Associate degree or equivalent in facilities management, engineering, or a related field
Bachelor's degree preferred
Familiarity with CAFM/CMMS systems (e.g., Yardi)
Knowledge of financial systems and budgeting
Certifications such as IOSH, NEBOSH, CFM, or BIFM are a plus
Working EnvironmentThis role is based on-site at a professional commercial property. You’ll be expected to move between building areas and occasionally travel between sites as required. The role requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods and to operate standard office and facilities equipment.
