The role for Brand Equity is to create love for our fabric of the nation snacking brands through the emotive power of big ideas. Brand Equity is responsible for shaping and building memory structures in the minds of our consumers and responsible for ensuring that our marketing drives brand meaning, difference and salience. We are looking for an Assistant Brand Equity Manager to join the Mondelez International South Africa team on the Chocolate & Biscuits portfolio. This individual will play a critical role in supporting the Brand Equity Lead during the strategic communication and creative origination development process, as well as managing ATL (Above-The-Line) and digital film production. The successful candidate will also assist with the creative agency performance evaluations, and supporting the development of our brand equity strategies during the annual communication brand planning cycle. The role also involves working closely with our MDLZ cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with our global brand equity and brand CI guidelines across our Chocolate & Biscuits portfolio.

You will be involved in the entire strategic and creative idea development process, ensuring brand consistency, and learning firsthand how to position global brands in our ever-evolving South African and East Africa markets.

How you will contribute

In line with the job purpose, key accountabilities will entail the following:

Support creative and film production processes for ATL and digital campaigns.Support the evaluation of creative agency performance, ensuring high-quality execution and alignment with brand goals.Assist in the development of annual scope of work for our creative agency partners.Support and manage strategic communication and creative debriefs.Oversee the brand and communication strategy development process alongside the Brand Equity Lead, ensuring it aligns with global brand communication frameworks and playbooks.Support cross-functional teams in the execution of integrated marketing campaigns, ensuring brand consistency.Assist the Brand Equity Lead for Chocolate & Biscuits with day-to-day operations, strategic and creative initiatives.Develop impactful presentations for internal stakeholders, showcasing brand equity insights as well as creative excellence performance.Manage the award submission process with our creative partner agencies.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
To succeed in this role, it is expected that the ideal candidate will have:

Relevant tertiary degree or diploma – Marketing, advertising, brand communication or related.Minimum 2 years’ experience, having worked in a similar environment / role with at least 12 months’ experience as an Assistant Brand Manager or equivalent (junior strategy role, account management)FMCG experience advantageous.Strong level of computer competency, i.e. PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel.Knowledge and experience: Brand building, strategic communication, creative agency or marketing experience, budget management.Presentation writing skills to assist with internal equity presentations.An interest or basic understanding of “the Creator Economy” and cultural trends.Passionate about brands and how they can connect with consumers.Ability to understand cultural insights and position brands effectively within culture.Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to manage projects without significant management support.Ability to build strategic and collaborative working relationships across the business.
