Description
The Assistant Coach (Pitching Coach) at Lafayette College plays a critical role in supporting the Head Coach across all aspects of the program, with a particular focus on pitching development, recruiting, and the integration of advanced player development technologies. As a member of the Patriot League, Lafayette prioritizes both academic excellence and athletic achievement, seeking an assistant coach who can mentor student-athletes, cultivate a positive team culture, and ensure compliance with Lafayette College, Patriot League, and NCAA regulations. This position also involves collaborating with campus partners, engaging in community outreach, and contributing to fundraising and alumni relations to advance the program's long-term success.
Primary Responsibilities:

Serve as the program's Pitching Coach, overseeing all aspects of pitcher development and performance.

Implement, set up, and manage player development systems through the use of technology, including but not limited to Trackman Stadium, Trackman Portable, TruMedia, Synergy, Blast Motion, and Rapsodo.

Create scouting reports for opponents based on data collection and analysis to support game strategy and player preparation.

Analyze player performance data to identify trends, develop individualized improvement plans, and inform in-game decision-making.

Assist with overall practice planning, game strategy, and skill development for all student-athletes.

Recruit academically driven and athletically talented student-athletes who reflect Lafayette's values.

Promote a culture of academic responsibility and support student-athletes in achieving Lafayette's rigorous academic standards.

Mentor student-athletes in leadership, discipline, and personal growth.

Manage team logistics, including scheduling, film analysis, and travel coordination.

Collaborate with sports medicine and strength & conditioning staff to promote wellness, injury prevention, and recovery.

Support community outreach, alumni engagement, and fundraising initiatives.

Partner with the marketing and communications team to highlight team achievements and enhance recruiting efforts.

Foster a positive, inclusive, and disciplined team environment.


Qualifications

2-5 years collegiate coaching experience, preferably at the Division I level.

Bachelor's Degree required. Masters Degree preferred.

Knowledge of collegiate baseball technology and analytics.

Upon position acceptance, successful completion of PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

Candidates must exhibit the ability to build and maintain professional relationships with student-athletes and staff, showcasing a genuine passion for enhancing the student-athlete experience. Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are essential. The ideal candidate will excel in collaborating with individuals from diverse backgrounds, educational levels, and cultural perspectives. They must demonstrate a commitment to adhering to Lafayette College, Patriot League, and NCAA rules and regulations. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is required.
